Either way, Trump wins. Either the players capitulate and stand with hand over heart or they kneel/link arms, enraging fans more. Trump DGAF, he either declares victory or beats on the players and NFL for another week. It's an absolute winning issue for him and he's played it flawlessly.

Yet somehow not a single one of those players in the photo had enough contempt in the weeks before to kneel or sit.

And I don't recall anything newsworthy about vets or average joes that happened in the interim to push their contempt over the edge. But I do recall the president insulting the 0.03% of the NFL players who were kneeling the first 2 weeks. And I also recall the players explicitly referencing those comments as justification for a response before it happened.

Nah. Clearly it must have been that their contempt for the vets just randomly occured at the same time with no rhyme or reason why, either stated by them or observed by the rest of us, and Trump's comments coincidentally coincided with that and their explicit reference to them was also coincidental and not really relevant.
