Message Does Obama have any lasting contributions or successes whatsoever? by WheelRoute He inherited an economy losing about 900k jobs a month and with a double digit unemployment rate and by the time he left office he'd achieved a record 75 consecutive months of job growth and gotten unemployment down to 4.7%.

All Obammy did was stay out of the way and allow the Federal Reserve to bailout the "too big to fail" banks/corporations. So in some respect you're correct.

He had almost nothing to do with that. It's a nice meme, but thats all it is.

This is always such a misleading stat.

Here's a fact, while many people DID drop off the unemployment roles from 20010is to 2016 , the number of people who signed up for social security disability shot through the roof.

LINK

So it's pretty clear that many of these people simply stopped looking for work and stopped collecting unemployement (which is of course how the government tracks unemployement) and signed up for SSI instead.

They still are not working , they are just collecting welfare instead of unemployment .

If I'm reading your link correctly, from 2009 until now only about 2 mil additional people are on disability, right? A surge, to be sure, but not one that discredits the improvements in the unemployment rate under Obama.

There's always room for improvement.

Unemployment rate is a lagging indicator which is what I've been preaching in all of these celebratory "Trump's Economy!" posts six months in. The double digit number happened under Obama but I don't think there's an economist alive who would attribute 10% unemployment in Oct 2009 to any policy that he enacted. And whether you want to attribute that double digit # to him or Bush, it's still Obama's ARRA + a number of minor policy decisions that reversed the trend. So he gets credit there, regardless.

He pissed off everyone so badly ... and made everything so shitty ... and race-baited so effectively ... that the American People willingly elected Donald J. TRUMP.

Oh ... and 100% black ... but with a white momma. That's impressive.

Well Bush was a godawful president who handed over the country in absolutely terrible condition to his successor, so he deserves a fair amount of blame. Whether it was good politics or optics to do so is another matter.

Would you rather have the economy of 2009 or of 2016?

Thats nice.
Do you give him credit for destroying the future economy by doubling the debt that took 200+ years to get to the first 10 trillion....the next 10 trillion in 8 years?

Your own party divided the country. It was a strategic decision made by Sen. McConnell and amplified by conservative media outlets and personalities to thwart a popular and charismatic incoming president who promised to achieve several long-standing progressive policy goals (and had the talent and numbers in congress to do it).

The thing is, it kind of worked. But the fallout from such a strategy is this great fissure that now threatens progress of any kind, even when conservatives have near unchecked power.

Yes, if that happened I would blame him.

It won't b/c it's our debt isn't causing us any non self-imposed problems and won't at these levels. But if it did.
