I have seen those numbers as well. Could never find the source. Looks like Jeffrey Sachs put it out which gives it some credibility. I haven't found any CNN source for the numbers. 1/2 million seems in the ball park considering the length and intensity of fighting. If correct, POWs have increased substantially over the last couple months.

I've been reading numbers like 200K Ukes and 300K Russians.

Considering the transparency of the battlefield and the artillery/ammo advantage, I would not be surprised at all to see Ukrainian losses substantially higher than Russian losses.

Well this is a good first step, admit you are confused and ask for help.
Initial Russian thrusts in the South and East were very successful. Their thrust in the North towards Kiev was not. These initial thrusts marked the high water mark for Russia in this war.
Since then Russian thrusts in the North were repelled and their forces around Kiev were pushed out of Ukraine. Russian forced in the Northeast and East were also pushed out of Ukraine. Lines in the East and South were also pushed back. Kherson City was freed.
Russian counterattacks in the East especially around Bakhmut have successfully taken Ukrainian territory, but it has been a long slow process.
That’s where we are now.

Just ask yourself this. Zingleberry stands before congress, then every European capitol and gives his blazing speech about how Bakhmut is his Alamo, its his Stalingrad....and its turned into his Little Big Horn.
So now he is threatening the lives of the children of his biggest ally. Does that sound like winning to you???????
Russia says the only thing they are encountering now are old men and children.
He has no troops left, its over. And he knows it. Thats why he wants f-16, they sure cant fly them, his only chance is to drag NATO into it. He is drunk with the limelight, he already has his millions, his book deal, his speech engagements and his Netflix documentary, but he wants to continue in the limelight til every Ukranian is dead.
The war has been decided, its just how many will die before its official. This thing is reading like Hitler's last days all over. Talking about divisions and armory he doesnt have. Turning on his allies. Sacrificing his own people. Its a disgrace.
But maybe you are right doubleb....its just a flesh wound (10 cents to Monty Python).

Since I dont think you comprehend what you just wrote.....the only people who believe Trump is some supporter of Russia....are those blindly led by the medias propaganda.
If Russia can stay at a distance and lob volkswagens at Ukranians, pray tell, why would they need human waves?? After all zengleberry has told us he has no ammunition so its not as if they have the artillery to fire back, right, am I right?
We are told, by zinglenuts that Russians have leveled the towns, why are they doing this if they are sending human waves instead, the two are mutually exclusive.
8 million have fled the country, and check out that desertion rate...he has lost the people in his tyrannical frenzy for fame.
Europeans are protesting to stop sending weapons and bring this to a close for goodness sake, Europeans.
Its over, give back to mother Russia what is hers and end this thing.
