re: Does Amazon force people to work for them?

I actually enjoy those kind of jobs and working in a very fast pace environment.
I worked summers back in the 70's in a busy produce warehouse picking orders for grocery stores. You had to pick so many items per hr.
It was very hard work but I was in killer shape from it. The kids today just don't do well in the fast paced physical type jobs.

Amazon beat out everyone during the COVID lockdowns too. Mostly because there was never a mandate to stop their operations, whereas that was not the case for their competitors and others.

No. That's not what I said, never even implied it.
Might not have been your intent but the implication is there. Linear logic (A+B=C) follows that you were stating that Amazon success was due to them taking advantage of avoiding an (unnecessary) mandate to close. In reality the smaller players unfairly suffered from unnecessary mandatory closure.
And I’m not hip to the lingo, simping contextually implies a negative here but I’m not familiar with the term. I’m indifferent to Amazon as a company, I couldn’t do warehouse work like that. Nothing wrong with the work it’s just not ideal for me.

I'm really struggling to communicate an extremely simple concept to you. There need not be any implications analyzed. I'm stating it in direct terms. I put it in italics. I will underline the main points again:
there is no free market
amazon is not participating in a free market
COVID validated my above assertion, but it's only one relevant example
nobody is disputing that Amazon is not operating in a free market
Amazon is evil, nobody should be simping for them, supporting them, making excuses for them, or using free market abstractions to justify Amazon's actions.
What part about what I'm saying needs to be clarified?

Does anyone force a worker to work for a company that requires union dues?
How do you feel about right-to-work laws?

There is no absolute free market. Sure. What we have is nuance.
Amazon participated in the relatively free market and operates within the established limits of that system
You were ambiguous on COVID-19s role in Amazon’s success. Do you feel that Amazon should have been needlessly shut down or that Amazon could not compete against smaller businesses if none were shut down? Or that Amazon was given special status in not being shut down?
Again nuance. It’s not an absolute.
How is Amazon evil? Are they operating illegally? Are they using slave labor? Are they using prison labor outside established norms? Are their vehicles not obeying traffic laws? Are they using child labor in their fulfillment centers? Are they buying politicians?

And they certainly don’t tell you they can afford to do much better for the workers.”
I know a guy who started is own business. I know what he did prior, before hiring people to help him when he was just starting out. Working two jobs, crazy hours, he built everything he had by doing the work himself. Yes, he literally DID build that.
So one of his part-time employees was muttering off to the side that he didn’t think the business owner should be making all that much more money than the rest of them. Because they were all about the same age, he thought that it would be more fair if they made the same.
I forget what the issue was that caused him to say this, maybe the owner had bought a new vehicle, or had gone on some tropical vacation, it doesn’t matter. This idiot had no grasp of what it took to get to this point, the long hours , the sacrifices, it was beyond his ability to grasp, clearly. Just as this moron who thinks Amazon can “ do better “ thinks that they just have all this money , lying around,

Based.
This board is full of temporarily embarrassed billionaires.
If they just work a little bit harder, they too will be just like Bezos.

That term has been used in this thread more times than I've every seen it used ever. It's the new librul buzz word.
