But hiding countless emails from the IRS, covering up Benghazi and confusing the stupid American voters on healthcare is American..nice, your moral compass is broken dude unless you would do none of these on terrorists who knew the whereabouts of your own family..

Yes, that's probably true. In reality, we abhor the guys who take out the trash, or put on bio-suits to swim among sewer trout and urine to unclog sewage pumps, but guess what? They neither solicit nor welcome your thanks, well wishes, or consideration.

If you're just fishing for random info you'll likely catch a lot of bullshite. But if you're looking for specific, verifiable info, then of course its effective. It all hangs on knowing what questions to ask.

Check yourself

I am the definition of an American. I answered the question based on what an expert said on the radio today. I have no idea if torture is effective or not as I spend my day in a hospital caring for patients.

i heard an interview on the BBC today, actually two, both were from ex-military. One was an interrogator and then one worked at a think tank (I think). Both said its just not particularly effective most of the time.

The interrogator's interview was quite interesting.

I can tell you for a fact that when done correctly, it can and has produced good intelligence. This shouldn't even be a part of the debate to be honest.

Did you see the whole Iraqi Army just MELT...when the ISIL barbarians began slaughtering foes?

Fear is one of the most powerful motivators in the Universe. Of course, there is the occasional anomaly in men, who are hard broken. But I think those in the know...know that everybody has a breaking point.

Of course torture works. And in particular instances, it is justified. The end does justify the means; obviously so...even for God.

If you water board someone 100 time like was done to KSM, it's doubtful you're going to get any more information from him the next 88 times.

Without question. There is no legitimate argument to the contrary. None. The only question is whether a modern civilization should go there. That is it.

For example, would public drawing and quartering be a deterrent to pedophilia? Of course it would. Is public caning a deterrent to misbehavior overseas? Of course it is. But it is not the way we perceive a civilized society should act.

Yes

Do you really think that the CIA would have done it if it didn't work?

Think about this, the CIA is the world leader in intelligence. I'm quite sure they know what they are doing and that their methodology is tested to be highly effective.

We needed information in a hurry. It was 100% justified and we probably should have killed them when we were finished.

Of course it's effective. The more important question is should this country sacrifice everything it stands for to join the ranks of North Korea and Iran to get information.

I am a worthless piece of trash for asking if torture is ultimately effective? Or is it because I call out the people here who say the majority of Muslims are evil people?

Wrong, this shows how little you know. We double and triple check info, we feed them false info that we know is wrong to see if they WILL LIE instead of telling the truth. Then when we show them their B.S. lies we start over.

Of course if you are going to believe a B.S. report, by a bych who signed off on enhanced interrogations and was said to have asked if "more couldn't be done", who now has seen a chance to play political football just like Obama did in 2009 by calling the US a nation of torturers.

Terrorist have no rights under the Geneva convention.

And Water Boarding is not torture.

Frick this bych, and all the commies who support her.

I'll never understand why some people lose sleep over the thought of terrorists being water-boarded.

I'm skeptical as to the effectiveness of such tactics as interrogation tools, but I really couldn't care less if they are subjected to some brief discomfort.
