IWhat I think it comes down to is the practicality of politics. Massie is nearly a purist, and those kinds make poor politicians because politics is “the art of the possible”. What is frustrating Trump is that Massie is opposing the things they are doing to improve our situation, because those things are not good enough. That’s okay if Massie has close to the number of votes necessary to get his ideals implemented, but he doesn’t. The result is he is abetting the Democrats.
The upshot is that I don’t think Massie is “a scumbag”, but his refusal to get on board is similar to the third party candidacy of Ross Perot - all it did was get Clinton elected.

This is getting ridiculous. You folks want somebody to stand up for America and not take no for an answer. Then when someone finally does, you criticize him for not playing politics (which is exactly how the PTB has set up the game for them to win.)
Very frustrating.

You folks?
I want to elect moral, responsible politicians. And when we reach a threshold, I want to get control of our federal government. In the mean time, and as we approach that threshold, I want them to be pragmatic and get the best deals possible.
The Democrats are currently pursuing the tact you suggest - purity in deed. They have shut down the government to fight for whatever it is they believe in. Their actions are lowering them in the voters’ estimation, so they are about to cave in on their purity. This is where the idealists meet their ends.

Hint: What you’re asking for will never happen as long as those attempting to do so get nothing but pushback from those claiming they want it.

My point is that a politician who has a great end in mind, but won’t accept any deal except one that fully accomplishes that great end, is an ineffective politician, and he is likely acting as an impediment to progress toward that end.
Like it or not, the path to fiscal responsibility is a slow and arduous one. We have to win election after election for 20 years in order to climb. out of this mess.

Its going to be hilarious when Massie wins yet again.

Be careful, milei ran and won. Massie should take inspiration from that.

It’s not. The voters are the problem. Our Founders repeatedly emphasized that only a moral people could maintain this governemnt.

ETA: Whether you realize it or not, what you’re advocating is to do the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result.
