It seems that your delusion is far worse than I thought. It might be time for some court ordered time in a safe facility where professionals can give you some treatment. We’ll get to work on that now.

We’re watching a man spiral in real time. Sad. But luckily for him some of the political board members are taking up a collection to get him the help he so desperately needs

I think he needs the debt limit raised so he can issue bonds on it.

I also read somewhere that tax cuts are counted as spending and therefore would count against the debt limit. Trump believes that not raising the debt limit will put a damper on his proposed tax cuts.

We did the last 2 years. Didn't work out well at all. How do you think all that Ukraine funding happened?

So now you don’t support Biden, you don’t support Ukraine, and you don’t support the adults being in charge?

Joe and Kamala are still in charge.

Sure. Of course I see REEEEEE as something beyond philosophical, though.

Correct. That’s my point. All the Ukraine funding happened while the “adults” were in charge.

Without a debt ceiling is there any incentive to curb spending or shrink federal government?

It was a well intentioned effort to get control of the exploding budget. But it inevitably became much less effective as it was simply another majority vote and/or reconciliation process in the chain of rank and meaningless political maneuvering between the two sides of the uniparty.

There has to be true political will to reduce spending and control the budget, or else the debt ceiling is just another meaningless curve on the road to bankruptcy.

And if the political will to reduce spending is an actual reality, then the debt ceiling is unnecessary.

Cut spending

Anybody that thinks we can eliminate a 2 trillion dollar deficit and thereby immediately meet a debt ceiling is full of shite.

All of discretionary spending is about a trillion.
Defense is almost a trillion.

So lets say we eliminate all discretionary spending. What's next? Eliminate the national defense? Let old people starve?

We are going to have to cut and grow out of this mess. Which is exactly why going through this debt ceiling charade every quarter is idiotic. All it leads to is bribes for votes, which is the opposite of what is intended.

Let Trump get the economy going. Let DOGE start proposing the rational, logical cuts and start implementing. We don't need across the board cuts or Chip Roy hysterics.

… did I like the first proposal.. no.. did I like the second .. heck no.. third… idk specifics but better than first two..

I see the limit as a brake which makes all politicians from all parties fight it out and causes them to display the stupid things they try sneaking in and fight hard for the ones that are reasonable.. I know that is Pollyanna view but with out it there is less discussion and compromise.. politicians have various viewpoint and hopefully use them for a better solution for the country as a whole..

Politicians in general are sneaky and self motivated imo and I want any method to make them get things into public view and work very hard to pass.

Elon calling them out on X helps immensely. GROK dissecting the enormous bills in milliseconds and calling out the bullshite in a concise, easy to understand manner takes it next level. With X, we finally have a media outlet that actually gives people access to real news and facts.

How is this CR a huge victory then like Johnson claimed?

The debt ceiling wasn’t extended or made unlimited. This is bad for the first 100 days unfortunately.
