You didn’t even know the difference between imports and exports 30 minutes ago.

Oh yeah… Any deflection is better than spelling out how much money American import companies are paying into the $100 million figure..

Just tell me the number is zero. All tariffs are paid by Mexico.
I’ll mark you down as a member of the club.

That’s gibberish.
Importers from America are paying tariffs.
How are you this stupid?!

None retard. The foreign exporter pays the duty or lowers the prices on the goods to the importer and the federal government collects the duty from the importer, hence the 27B surplus in tariff revenue. The dem argument was that those costs would be passed onto the consumer, which hasn’t happened.

quote:This is essentially an argument that tariffs aren’t working. Tariffs by definition, are intended to distort the market price for imported goods. If they don’t accomplish that, they are ineffective in altering the domestic market.
The importer "pays" the tariff, but the exporter has reduced his price to reflect the tariff so the end price to the consumer remains virtually the same.
There was a study posted on here recently showing, why, after all the hand wringing about "a tax to consumers"......our inflation went down on consumer goods.
It may mean the foreign producer is making less profit, but that doesn’t build wealth for the domestic consumer. It simply makes everyone, except government, poorer—a policy only a big-government socialist could love.
I have no idea how anyone can argue that tariffs do not provide upward pressure on prices. That’s silly. Of course increasing COGS provide upward pressure over the long term, especially when money printing is occurring in massive quantities.
That is exactly why Powell is hesitant to print more. And Trump is an idiot for wanting more printing while dialing up upward pressure on prices.
Apparently, Trump loves inflation is the only thing I can conclude. Given his desire history of Keynesian stimulus, love of government spending and desire to print more money it’s the only objective conclusion.

yet not a single earnings call or increase in prices has been attributed to tariffs…

You want me to prove a negative?
Link the earnings call or the product that has increased in prices that was imported from Mexico.
