DEA is another that could easily be trimmed down and rolled up into the FBI, they also have a lot of overlap. DHS might be one of the only agencies that started with a specific purpose, and that purpose still has relevancy today outside of these other agencies.

While DHS has been watered down to include wholly domestic affairs, it's original intent would still be useful today. It needs a vast trimming down and a re-targeting of the intended goal. If all else fails and you want to rid DHS in its entirety too, it could easily be folded into the CIA and FBI as well though. If you closed down DHS, ICE/Border Patrol need to become their own whole agency. This needs to be the case anyway at this point.

There was one major case I worked in 2023 where I counted 7 different agencies and departments on site, and it was eye opening just how convoluted everything became because of it. Not to mention there was literally confusion on the ground and a dick measuring contest between Feds and State/local PD trying to determine who took presidence over the next guy, and the next guy, etc.

It only serves to make the process harder and less efficient, when it SHOULD be a well-oiled machine that works together to fight crime effectively and efficiently nationwide without barriers.

emoluments clauses

I'm aware of only 3. Which one would prevent that? The one about foreign offers, the one about the presidents salary, or the one about members of Congress?

There are no Cons to this, only Pros.

Patel is going to neuter the ATF. They overstepped their boundaries under Biden and SCOTUS' slap down of Chevron Deference should have cooled their jets ... but it didn't.

Now comes the thunder. They've had it coming for a lonnnnnnnng time.

When they executed that guy in Little Rock who worked for Bill and Hillary, they pre-destined their own fate.

I'd like discussion on the pros and cons about this.

It would be easy to coordinate cooperation between the agencies with one person in control. Plus, you're saving a paycheck.

One simple law could eliminate the need for the ATF.

If you aren't allowed to have a gun, but you get caught with one during the commission of any crime, it's an automatic 20 years.

The system now puts all the responsibility on the seller or a government agency, that's horse shite. If you aren't supposed to have a gun for whatever court-ordered reason, and you get caught with it, that's on them. We want Academy Sports and a gov agency to be responsible when it's really the criminal who should be accountable for any crimes he commits.

Ummmm. Ok sorry. I'm confused. We went from talking about the right to own and possess, to talking about people not being allowed to have them.
I'm lost here.
Wouldn't the constitutional method be to just not let them out if they're still dangerous?
