That isn't exactly how it works fwiw.
Anyway, the NFL is a vanity business for billionaires more than it is a cash making machine. NFL owners want cash of course, but way more important to them is the prestige of owning a franchise.
eta: I only watched 4 NFL games last year. Some when I visited my inlaws who live and breath saints. And then some playoffs games.

Trump can only dream about being as popular as the NFL is today. The retard in Chief thanks that being divisive and creating conflict is a good thing. I support the NFL .

cheerleaders havent been shown during the NFL games for years now. if they no longer existed no one would notice if it wasnt made into a story 
if the game isnt on you have to watch the talking heads spout utter BS instead of the cameras showing the cheerleaders like they used to before PC BS decided women who watch the game didnt want to see that
