I imagine it's like certain people when their tax refund comes. They just go to Walmart and go wild.

He was trying to get in with the people who will create the laws/regs over crypto and crypto exchanges.
He was buying his way for a seat at the table, so he could write regs to protect his company and create expensive costs and barriers to entry for his competition.
Just your typical crony capitalism stuff.
