The Cherokee, like most American stone-age tribes, did not have any ownership concept of land - instead considering all the land within their range of travel and proximity to the nearest OTHER stone age tribes at any given time to be their land.

Being eaten or enslaved by other stone age tribes tends to enforce what was considered "proximity"

Luckily, no stone age tribe is knocking on the door of current residents in a millenia old land claim for that land..

..as happened with the zionists in the early 1900's despite their having no connection whatsoever to the land nor ancestry of the land

We're not talking about a random "Palestinian" person, we're talking about a leader of a group that is not only trying to eliminate Israel, but also the leader of a group that has been spreading the very narrative you're defending for 40 years or so.

So the correct hypothetical analogy would be a Democratic Speaker of The House or Vice President, after claiming for years that Jan 6 was a violent uprising, telling a newspaper, "There was no 'insurgency' on Jan 6h. That was just a political strategy to vanquish Trump."
