Destroying DEI Is a Death Sentence for American Prosperity

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is facing its most formidable challenges in recent memory. The 2023 Supreme Court ruling against affirmative action on college campuses opened the door for more than 20 states to reverse the course on DEI. In what it called a “backlash against ‘wokeism,’” The New York Times observed that “the eradication of D.E.I. programs has become both a cause and message suffusing the American right.”

The loss of yet another generation of people of color to bias, exclusion, and racism is too high a price. But there is another cost as well: $16 trillion. This comes from a Citibank report, which estimated that if four key gaps experienced by Blacks—in wages, education, housing, and investment—had been closed 20 years earlier, the U.S. GDP would see a $5 trillion increase over the next five years.

Even though companies supposedly recognize that “diversity is good for business,” racism remains entrenched in the corporate world, just as it is in American society. It’s time to evolve—or die.

“Racism” - “give me a high paying job simply because of skin color”.

I think people wouldn’t be nearly as pissed off about a lot of this if the people getting these jobs didn’t tend to be horribly unqualified because the demand for minority workers to meet a quota far outstrips the number of qualified ones.

If someone is 10% of the population and you try to make them 50% of the workforce at any one place, you eventually get diminishing returns if only because the talent pool isn’t that deep.

That can be taken quite a few ways, up to and including the Frankfurt School “intellectuals” being allowed in from Germany.

Equal opportunity of outcomes never works. the person that gives half arse efforts is never going to be equal to the person that gives 110%. Meritocracy dies with DEI.

DEI is by definition racist.

They are discriminating against individuals based on race and spell out the process by which they do so in writing.

They should be sued into oblivion in red states and it would disappear like a fart in the wind.

Any attorneys who want to take a crack at it I can give you multiple Fortune 500 companies guilty of discrimination with individuals living in red states who were adversely impacted.

I just look at it as fricking stupid on a number of levels.

Venezuela is as fricked as it is because they use the state oil company as a jobs program and replace the people who know what they are doing with connected people.

As this argument is essentially about Race, I'll address it as such. I used to think that - as a science/IQ-based genetic generalization - Black folk were not capable of performing and competing to the level of 'Whites' in more complex tasks as required in an organized high tech culture/civilization. Just like Whites are not (statistical generalization again, as there are always anomalies/outliers) able to compete in sports with genetically superior Blacks. (Give me a team of the best of Black athletes competing against the best of Whites and I'll win every time.) Anomalies nws.

I believed the above, UNTIL I watched a Documentary about "College Behind Bars" (I think that was its Title). This fallacy belief was my bad, as the Doc absolutely and beautifully so proved. Watch it, and if you have a heart, you will shed tears.

Given the above, it would be far wiser to set common standards for Blacks and Whites, such having no basic assumption of Racial inferiority (true Racism) in one group or the other. Albeit the less genetically gifted will have to work harder; that is honorable and virtuous. I do believe that a hardworking and virtuous character but genetic/IQ underdog of ANY Race, will be looked upon and rewarded by employers who by their superior wisdom and love of their fellow man will motivate them to hire accordingly. As their freedom allows. Hiring people who believe they are owed something, is not a good criterion for a good partnership.

The Systematic implementation of lowered standards is societally suicidal, as the motivation to become personally better is killed in all groups. The implied social contract between groups that perceive 'injustice' in regard to personal merit, will undermine social unity and lead to what we witness today. Division, and an increasing lack of Freedom as 'government' is forced to become more restrictive and authoritarian due to the division, and ultimately, resulting in dysfunction and 'wailing and gnashing of teeth'. As is the human historical norm.

MLK was right re being judged and rewarded "not according to the color of one's skin, but the content of one's character". We have a SPIRITUAL problem, and as the old adage goes "you can't legislate morality", that is it in a nutshell.

DEI is not the solution...higher standards of both a moral and practical nature are. Otherwise, "the blind lead the blind and both go into the ditch".

I really this is a bridge too far given the current civilizational psychological dynamic; maybe a "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" scenario. Not to mention the reality of Evil, if we indeed exist in a Spiritual Universe. I think that Jesus will end up having to step in and save us from ourselves, as per His Promise. Lord help us till that time.

This is true. DEI is the entrenched racism.

I'm assuming, then, that Citibank is all for completely securing the borders, as it's the black community that gets hit hard by an open border.
