Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Capitulates to Disney, Works to Give Them Back Their Special Tax Breaks

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has reversed his stance on Disney, quietly capitulating and working behind the scenes to give them back their tax breaks as the woke megacorp exploits and sexualizes children.
Staunchly America First Florida state representative Anthony Sabatini made a post on Twitter highlighting the betrayal.

A Financial Times report indicated that Florida lawmakers are working closely with DeSantis’ office to give Disney back their special tax privileges and allow them to administer their parks with a private government called the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The reinstatement of CEO Bob Iger over Disney is allowing the company to exploit Florida taxpayers once more, and DeSantis is apparently happy to go along with this.
“What I can say [is] the state of Florida has been important to us for a long time and we have been very important to the state of Florida,” Iger said. “That is something I’m extremely mindful of and will articulate if I get the chance.”
“It’s easier to shift policy when you don’t have to defend the old policy,” said Florida state representative Randy Fine, a Republican who authored the legislation to revoke Disney’s special tax breaks. “[Former Disney CEO Bob] Chapek screwed up, but Bob Iger doesn’t have to own that screw-up.”
Democrats, of course, are happy that DeSantis and Republicans in the Florida state legislature are capitulating to Disney, claiming that these corporate special privileges are necessary for economic growth.

When you accept other people’s money to help your political career, you have to do the things that further their agendas.
Shocker.
Shocker.

What really happen, Disney when to the Florida state legislature and...

Chapek is just the fall guy for implementing what Iger wanted...
Disappointing and frustrating....

Your obsession with DeSantis is disturbing. When you go to bed do you pray to Trump?

That’s because they will have to fund his broke arse. He’s a typical bogus fricking lawyer turned politician.

Didn’t Disney very recently announce they were going to make strides to be more politically neutral going forward? Why is it odd for DeSantis to make moves to reestablish Florida’s relationship with Disney after Disney came to the table to change their policies to Florida and DeSantis’ liking?

Correct
The restrictions that FL were imposing wouldn't take effect until Jun '23, so Disney said they would change course. There's still time for FL to stay on the restrictions course if Disney does something stupid.

Because they want Disney to collapse.

IDK. It could be that revenue is down or not meeting growth expectations with Disney wokeness being in the media and news. Money is usually the driver behind corporate changes. Disney was sliding too woke and the board is getting the band back together with the old band leader Bob Iger. It's likely a coincidence between DeSantis' wants and Disney moving more neutral.

OP is an idiot
Sounds like it's Disney doing the backing down. They fired Chapek and reversed course on the wokeness. Sounds like DeSantis taught them a lesson. Keep their woke noses out of Florida's business or else.
And it stands to reason both sides would come back to the table because the relationship is too important to both sides. I always said they would come back and cut a deal and they did. I seriously doubt you will hear anymore from Disney on the subject.
DeSantis sent a warning to woke corporate America to stay in their lane and it worked. It was a brilliant move. He did take on big interests and won.

No they didn't. When you listen to the way Iger thinks about, he doesn't get "why" its an issue as it's normal, more than anything.
If they are going to do something, then force them to lay out exactly what they are going to do to keep them honest when auditing it down the road. Will they return the welcome to "Ladies and Gentleman, stop pushing gay shite in kids movies especially without being clear about it so they trick parents, will they stop pushing gay shite here but not in chyna, will the still replace Splash Mountain because it's racist, etc etc etc...what are they doing? One thing I know they won't do is move, cause they can't. FL has Disney by the nards, and looks like they are retreating, typical GOPe move...

i don't buy the Desantis is a GOPe shill thing, but it's easy to be "neutral" when you have already gone 80% in one direction. If I run my car up to 100 mph and then drop into neutral as I go downhill, that does not return me to what I was before.
