The tech arm of ACRONYM, a Democratic digital nonprofit group that has rapidly expanded in recent years, was responsible for building the Iowa caucus app that contributed to delays in reporting Monday night’s results in the first vote in the party’s presidential race. Multiple Democratic sources, including one of the presidential campaigns, confirmed the app’s creator.

State campaign finance records indicate the Iowa Democratic Party paid Shadow, a tech company owned by ACRONYM, more than $60,000 for “website development” over two installments in November and December of last year. A Democratic source with knowledge of the process said those payments were for the app that caucus site leaders were supposed to use to upload the results at their locales.

Gerard Niemira, a veteran of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, is the head of Shadow. In 2019, David Plouffe, one of the chief architects of President Barack Obama’s wins, joined the board of advisers for ACRONYM.

Niemira, ACRONYM founder Tara McGowan and a spokesman for the group did not immediately respond to phone calls requesting comment.

So ACRONYM is a propaganda spin firm.
Its job is literally to manipulate voters though fake news (aka lying).
Yet this is the group Tom Perez and Dems chose to run their election?

Doubling down on stupid, McGowan's Fake News firm paid a Hillary confidant, Gerard Niemira, to run Iowa's election tally systems via an app appropriately named "Shadow".

Niemira had been the "Hillary For America" Product Manager.
Did anyone consider the abject loathing Team Hillary had and has for Bernie? Did anyone consider the fact Team Hillary had a history of rigging elections against Bernie? . . . IN IOWA!

So after the Iowa Poll results (likely showing Sanders surging) got mysteriously "spiked" (the kind of work ACRONYM happens to specialize in), the election results (likely showing Sanders surging) receive similar treatment. The Sander's Campaign is all over Tom Perez on this. Deservedly so.

This thing is probably the simple result of massive incompetence. It is a really bad look though.

It also may have given the Biden Campaign a breath of life after what appears to have been an electoral disaster in Iowa. Appears he may have finished 5th. That could have killed his campaign. It might still, but the damage is probably mitigated in New Hampshire.

Meanwhile, Trump brought in 4-5X the number of expected GOP participants, and the AP called the GOP Caucuses for POTUS just 27 minutes after they began.

As an aside, the "Shadow" app failure is a virtual Carbon Copy of Romney's 2012 digital GOTV app catastrophe -- Project ORKA.
