Election 2018: Democrats expect that fierce anti-Trump sentiment will sweep them into power in the House, if not the Senate, this November. If that fails to happen, they are already preparing their excuse: Russian meddling.
Just as in 2016, Democrats — as well as various political pundits — are certain of victory.
"Democrats may have already won the House," declared the news site Axios this week, citing four reasons the election was a lock.
Certainly, history favors Democratic gains in November, since the party out of power tends to pick up dozens of seats in the midterm elections, particularly when the sitting president is unpopular. Recent state and local elections also have shown the Democratic base highly mobilized.
But polling analyst Nate Silver, responding to the Axios article, tweeted that "Seems like people haven't learned too much from 2016. Democrats are modest favorites to win the House, but not particularly heavy ones; less than Clinton was in November 2016."

The idea of Nancy Pelosi being second in line to the presidency should render any voter sober.

So everytime the Democrats lose from now on, it’s not that the people rejected them, but the Russians hacked us. Let’s see where this gets them!

I'm just looking forward to Republicans rioting, looting, shooting 1/3 of the Dem Congress. I've already got my black clothes and bandana ready!
What's a good brand of bicycle chain lock for bashing of skulls?

It’s VP, speaker, then SOS.

It depends on if you count the President or not.
Either way could be right.

How many people are in line before the Speaker of the House? I only count the VP. The current president is not in line to be president.
Calling the speaker "third in line" is wrong IMHO.

only one in front him, so this makes sense to me

The President Pro Tempore of the Senate is sandwiched between the Speaker and SOS in the line of succession.

Yep. We've become used to saying, third in line when that simply isn't the case. The only way for that to be valid is if we consider the current president to be in line to be president.
I'm not on a crusade to change the nomenclature but I always use second in line and then explain my reasoning when challenged.

Ok back at ya. I don't see 1,2 as a stretch.
Not worth a debate.
