It’s in the constitution. Just like 2A. I’m sure the founders didn’t intend for the average citizen to have semiautomatic weapons but here we are. I am not sure the SC will rule on intent. They will rule on what the amendment says and how that amendment has been strengthened for over 100 years by case law.

It's a bad self destructive policy. Period.

The authors of the 14th Amendment would have never said to themselves, hey guys let's set up a rule that is horrible policy and self-destructive to the nation.

They wouldn't have done that.
