Should we defund TSA and move that responsibility to ICE permanently?

TSA needs to be disbanded.

Private security for airports would do a much better job.

Think of all the corruption in local politics. This is how you end up with someone completely unqualified winning the contract because they’re well connected to the mayor, city council members, or someone on the airport board.

Can you imagine airport security at O'Hare or MSY?

Airlines used to pay for them. Locals had no real say in who was hired.

100%.

Airlines should be providing their own security, not the US tax payer.

TSA has been nothing more than a government DEI-hiring program created to provide certain groups the ecstatic joy of wielding unquestioned power in a controlled environment.

Airport security at MSY would undoubtedly be run by Sidney Torres. IV Security

Think of all the corruption in local politics?

Think of all the corruption in government agencies.

There's no winning either way. But a private agency would certainly be more cost-effective.

It worked fine before 911.

The only things that needed to change after 911 was to add locks to cockpit doors and prohibit box cutters.

TSA employees at least have some training

When it comes to competence of government employees, there are much worse agencies than TSA.

Anything private will cost more every time. Look at government contracts: they gouge the tax payer. 2 to 3 times what a TSA employee makes.

The 9/11 security fee brings in enough money to cover it. However, Congress takes a bunch of that fee and directs it to the general fund, then doles it out.

If 100 percent of the 9/11 fee stayed with tsa, there would be no federal funding required.
