If I find the comment I was referencing--I will post it.
It was from someone in the law enforcement system... that said, within the system they have seen plea deals, negotiated based on curbing national race wars. riots.
I dont want to argue this, but look at OJ and Floyd...

Makes sense they would unless you think DAs don’t consider public perception when negotiating deals.

This is in Texas, not Minnesota or California.

I cant believe the autopsy photos and the penetrated heart wasn't enough to not allow manslaughter.
One doesn't have their arm veins muscles bulging and then just accidentally go for the heart.

Even the jr member of my legal dream team knows to never do that.
I have no legal background outside of watching fictional court room tv shows and movies, and even I know "never ask a question you don't already know the answer to"

Welp, he could've walked out of the tent.
But instead, chose to kill a kid.

It's gone to the jury and they are now in deliberations. I expect they'll wrap this up in an hour and get out for lunch. They should, anyways.

I wouldn't be surprised if they strung it out a little bit to make it appear like they are deliberating to calm some tensions, in their mind.
But this should be over in an hour or two in reality

I think they’ll come back with a, “manslaughter”, verdict. Solely based on not getting cut themselves, by some thugs.

They will order lunch in.

I'd be surprised if there is any trouble. Even the dumbasses know he's going down.
Not to mention TX isn't going to play that.

No, it'll be first degree murder.
The legal definition:
First-Degree Murder: This is the most severe level of homicide and carries the harshest penalties, such as life imprisonment without parole or, in certain jurisdictions, the death penalty.
Definition: An intentional killing that involves premeditation and deliberation. The perpetrator planned or thought about the act before carrying it out.
There's no doubt that this is exactly what happened.

I asked @Grok about Texas and murder versus manslaughter
quote:
Examples
Murder: Shooting someone with intent to kill, or beating them intending serious injury where death results.
Manslaughter: Firing a gun into the air recklessly (celebratory gunfire) causing a fatal injury, or driving extremely recklessly while aware of the danger.

Yea, it's definitely murder. ...and if you compare the differences between first and second degree murder, it's without a doubt, first.

There are no degrees in Texas... capital murder, murder, manslaughter, etc... but no degrees.
He is charged with murder. The meaning of which (by texas standards) I think our cajun friend posted upthread.
I pray they come back with murder. With manslaughter on the table though, they are guaranteed to at least convict of something.
