i'll give Dan the benefit of being able to cross some lines and have more conversations and appeal than somebody like Cruz.

his two biggest things are the red flag laws (which is often taken out context to what he actually said) and involvement in the ME.

while his answer is more nuanced than perpetual war and "I like red flag laws" they're still pretty cringy.

i hope there's a Dan 2.0 for him in the future. as of right now he's a typical Politian. runs on one thing, makes a splash his first year, gets on the wrong side of some issues, and then turns into a typical congress critter. Cruz was on that path. Made some points in 2012-13, got kinda sucky around the election (i voted for him in the primaries) and then pulled his head out in 2017.

i wouldn't hate him as governor. that being said, state level politicians in Texas suck. i know we're business friendly and all that stuff, but all of them are corrupt MFers.


keep him away from foreign policy and there's no way any sort of anti-2A stuff is getting anywhere near his desk anyways. then we get a pirate governor who will mostly leave us alone.
