Is the steady decline in growth rate of cases more so related to testing or lack thereof? Or are people considering this a positive sign?

I am beginning to believe it is a function of the testing bottleneck.

IF we can only process 105K tests a day in the lab as the graph below shows, then at a 18.2% positive test rate, you are going to have around a maximum new case rate of 19.1K per day. We're seeing more than that with yesterday's new cases at 26K so I'm not sure where the other positives are coming from, It could be new faster tests coming online. Maybe someone smarter than me can discuss this.

I added a new tab to the tracker that shows how many cases are required to generate the current number of deaths at different mortality rates.

It is appropriately titled US Mortality Case Load Required.

Tiger, it is at the bottom of the data grid in my current status posts. If you go to the tracker you will see it at the bottom of the data grid after today's date.

I haven't stopped doing anything in my normal routine that I still can. If the kids weren't home from school my life would be totally unaffected by this. It's amazing what people are willing to give up over a miniscule chance of dying from a virus.

The downward trend in the growth rate of new cases appears to be settling in around 14% to 16%. You can see that in the chart below when you look at the last several day's growth rates. The next couple of days should tell us if this is an accurate observation.

What percent growth do we say "this is under control?" Would like 5 days of 10% or less growth be good or does that number need to be lower? Obviously it is all fluid, but rough estimate.

Janky look at the Louisiana chart ... I pray that it's not poor information that Chrome has to work with. JBE is getting to me with the need for "thousands and thousands" of ventilators being needed thing.

I feel the same .. but many of the places that I would normally frequent on my days off are closed. Although I may need to see if Hobby Lobby in my area is indeed open.

We need to get to a daily declining number of new cases.

A 16.6% growth rate means that the size is doubling every 6 days. A 14.2% growth rate means it doubles every 7 days.

So we still get to big numbers, just slower. This buys us time to test possible drugs (Hydroxy/Zpack I'm looking at you) before the numbers get huge.

Yeah. I intentionally went and made a purchase at my local Game Stop while they were refusing to close.

I'd imagine a healthy segment of 'We the People' are going to tire from cabin fever and begin to push the venturing envelope. Will be interesting to see how State and local officials/ authorities respond.

In our little town of 100,000 tops we have 32 cases and can't imagine people being "sheltered" for very long on those numbers.

I would like to know what is the age, if patient was obese and if the patient had diabetes or heart conditions for the infected that died.
