and he will re close them if it gets above 9 percent. I am assuming he means percentage of tests positive.

Sounds tough to do but I guess possible since he has already infected most people in New York.

“Cuomo said a region must be in Phase 4 and the daily infection rate must remain below 5% using a 14-day average for schools to reopen.”

Surprised he isn’t forcing schools to be hosted in nursing homes.

These restrictions don’t prevent people from getting sick. They just prolong the process.

Madness.

Yeah, they better find the test that is having the most false negatives and run a bunch of those

That would be a really weird measure because it's not informative. Percent of positives is directly related to who you text. If I only test people that show up to the hospital my percentage of positive will be way higher then if I just text random people.

Yep, and at this point I am questioning even more... I do not doubt Covid is real and can play hell on some within the population... However:

1. Rapid Tests with false positives.
2. Supposed "positive" when test not taken.
3. Are the tests tampered with from say China or another source that would like to see this country crippled.
4. Guidance for reporting all over the place.
5. Politics being played both ways.

You just cannot make this shite up...

It is amazing to see all the media praising how he defeated this virus.

Uh......Italy doesn’t have that many cases right now either. Neither are a “success story.”

True but that is what the CDC is giving as guidance to states... So, let's say a state wants to play politics, they can give guidance on who is and is not tested in order to drive the number up or down...

Is there reason why 5% infection rate is the metric to use?

Why not hospital capacity at 100% or greater? Why not mortality rate above a particular number?

They have had ~400K cases. They have a state population of ~19million. Your definition of "most" seems a bit off.

Relying on arbitrary thresholds of inconsistently calculated metrics, plugged into an utterly illogical demographic-risk "analysis," to the detriment of our kids' education = PARTY OF SCIENCE AND EDUCATION!!!

“The data, first reported by The New York Times Thursday, shows that more than 68% of people tested positive for antibodies at a clinic in Corona, Queens, while only 56% tested positive at another clinic in Jackson Heights, Queens. “

If 9% is the line for closure why not open if it's below that but above 5%. Clearly he's fine with an infection rate of 6-8% so it doesn't make sense to require 5% to open if he will allow it to go above that amount.

I guess they are going with the premise that it will go up when the kids get together so they want to start at a lower number.
