Cassidy's position is totally predictable. He and Cheney are both being attacked by the GOP right wing. So, he feels like she is a kindred spirit. Misery loves company.

If Cassidy is so despised in LA, why not try to recall him?

The citizens of Louisiana are granted the authority to perform a recall election by the Section 26 of Article 10 of the Louisiana Constitution.

Louisiana is one of nine states with provisions that say that the right of recall extends to recalling members of its federal congressional delegation, but it hasn't been clear whether federal courts would allow states to actually recall their federal politicians.[1]

Unfortunately, some people really don't have a mind of their own. While home, they reflect what their friends, family and associates believe. Then they go off to DC, drink the toxic waters and start to reflect their new social environment as if that is their home.

Because recalls of elected federal officials are illegal and unconstitutional.

Actually, it's pretty clear as the Supreme Court has said before that the only way a US senator and Congressman leaves office is through death, resignation or expulsion after a vote by the US Senate and House.

Cassidy has already said he'll be serving two terms in the senate and he's in his 2nd now. He made the pledge back in 2014.

I took his impeachment vote as a signal he's sticking to that commitment.
