And if the food and service has been so pedestrian for so long, why get upset about the changes? Personally, I tend not to care what a company does if I'm not one of their customers.
The food started going downhill around Covid, and the changes have been gradual. Portions have shrunk by more than half as prices increased, and the menu has been chopped down considerably with many recipes changed (and not for the better). People started really noticing how bad it had gotten about a year ago, but continued going because the place still provided familiarity and comfort. The changes removed that last reason why people were still going.
This has the potential to be the biggest brand self-implosion since NASCAR.

I know you're joking but I get the idea that no one would be outraged about any of this shite unless people told them to be outraged about it

There's no way. I've been to CB twice in my life, the latest being around 15 years ago. The food then was nothing to write home about. I certainly wouldn't call it freshly prepared home cooking.

But this is one of the reasons that they were making changes (according to them). That portion of their customer base is dying off. They seemed to believe that they need to look to longer term customer base growth.

Why cant you accept that a large part of the population doesnt want wokeness brought into their lives? People are sick of it and that has become very clear yet you seem to think people only care when they are told to care?

The Sunday crowd must've been SUPER weak.

That is more of doubling down. They are lying for one saying it is a vocal minority....but two, they didnt discredit what they did...theybjust say they explained it wrong...lol
It is just like the democrats and their woke policies.....America voted against them...but they took it as if they just didnt explain their policies well enough.

Yeah, and that was when the food was widely considered "GOOD". It's WAY worse now, like Burger King slop bad. Young people are killing every restaurant because they're too poor to afford to eat out. The people who eat at Cracker Barrell are the "after church crowd" and travelers who want a comfortable place to wind down from the road and relax with food that sorta resembles home. Their brand is comfort and nostalgia. The brand was slipping because their food quality was declining and because gen z was, in general, not going out to traditional family sit down restaurants (they're poor, don't have friends or dates to go out with, and if they do, they're going somewhere they can instagram for clout). Cracker Barrell was a family brand trying to compete in a market where consumers have been priced out of having families.
They would have been better served by improving their food, competing on value (like what Chili's has done to save itself from the garbage bin thanks to McDonald's suiciding itself with high prices), or using marketing to change the perspective around Cracker Barrel. They decided to make their food less expensive and time intensive to make by cutting quality, raising prices to improve margins, and marketing Cracker Barrel as woke and LGBTQ friendly. Just, truly moronic stuff.

They were already struggling
Hence the changes

Outrage? Silly.

Got news for you, the crowd theybare targeting isnt going to eat there. In the process, they lost their base. Just like bud light

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think either you or I know that for sure.

They're losing their base anyway. Around 63% of their customer base is over 45. I believe over 40% of their customer base is over 55. People tend to get old and die.
