I have been thrown in Facebook prison twice, 30 days each in Facebook cell block 21 for using the term coonass. Does anyone work at FB besides dumb arse millennial idiots?

Is that supposed to be a 'racist' slur??

When I grew up it always referred to a hillbilly type white man, sort of like Louisiana has "cajuns south of I-10 and coonasses above."

edit - but I don't keep up with the latest parade of "unacceptable words"

Depending on your comments Facebook categorizes you as lib, moderate, conservative then Attila The Hun . I am in the Attila category so if I use the word coon in any form they automatically assume I am slamming black people.

Coastal liberal elites telling others what words from their culture are acceptable ... but still allowing ‘ some ‘ to use the N word .

Seems legit.

A badge of honor.

Coon dick. Well, I use to know what it meant but I'm sure FB will tell me otherwise.

Coonasses are Cajuns. They used to have novelty license plates with a cartoonish racoon's hind end facing you they'd put on the front bumper of their vehicles.

I’ll bet if you were having a discussion with another southerner about dogs and said coon hound they would throw you in the slammer for that.

PC culture gives words power by making them unmentionable.

Dating back to 1940, the Louisiana Air National Guard 159th Tactical Fighter Group, famously and proudly flew as the Coonass Militia until 1992.

It was changed to Cajun Militia and eventually to Bayou Militia.

Off topic but I heard a story on NPR this morning about some NYC bicyclist that complained about the name of a village (Swastika) he biked through in upstate New York. He found that word offensive and tried to get them to change the name of the village. His request was rejected unanimously.

Surprised no one's complained about WHITE Plains, NY.

Give it time.
