I'm going to echo what some others have said. The important thing was to keep Scott Angelle out of that seat. Way to much of the Tauzin/Landrieu mode in him.
If Higgins is a screw up, someone better should step up and get him out in two years.
I'm still baffled Greg Ellison only got 5% in the primary. With his background, that says some not so good things about the voters.

I'll agree with you, Ellison had a hell of a resume. I've met him a few times on his campaign trail and he was a super guy.

Military background. Started up and runs a successful oil company. Never been a politician. Good family man from what I could tell.

Maybe he should have made some Facebook videos and put things on his website like "eliminate the IRS" to appeal to our voters

I didn't like either but I didn't like Angelle more. I would have voted for just about anyone else it had nothing to do with Higgins and Cajun John Wayne. I didn't vote for either in the general.

Higgins will be fine for at least a term.
It's not like he's going to be introducing important legislation or be on select committees making policy.
As long as he votes conservative, he'll be fine.

And their leader in Louisiana is Karen Carter Peterson, who to be honest, is not particularly fond of John Bel Edwards because he is too moderate for her.
