That’s a true statement. This situation got lot more dangerous for Carlos.

As a concealed carry permit holder, I would never shoot someone stealing a car that presented no immediate physical threat to myself or others. Not because I intrinsically value the lives of car theives, but because it just isn't worth it.

But not everyone can read someone else's mind to know what their intentions are like you can.

And How is someone pointing a gun at you not an immediate physical threat?

You are taught to never point a gun unless you're ready and willing to use lethal force. You also have to assume that someone who pulls a gun is ready and willing to use it.

The carjacker was armed. Sounds like he was a immediate physical threat.

So a guy putting a gun in your face isn't immediate physical threat?

If you carry concealed and wouldn’t shoot a guy who points a gun at you, there is no need to carry concealed. What’s the point?

I look forward to reading about this next month in the NRA’s “Armed Citizen” page in the American Hunter and Rifleman.

Really, why even carry? I have a sneaking suspicion that you might have a permit but are too damn scared to carry...

He was 21 and already a convicted felon, who somehow with what can only be described as criminal level tenacity managed to lay his hands on a gun. I’m sure he was just trying to feed the two children that he already had and their mother(s?)

Dare to dream Carlos.

So why do you carry? If you aren't going to shoot someone that is pointing a gun at you, what other situation would warrant you using the gun?

I missed the part about him pointing a gun at him. Carry on then.

If someone breaks into your house while you are in your house, but they have no gun, are you going to let them take what they want? While you are watching tv, they will kindly take it, your money, your guns, as long as they are no threat, you will not shoot. Let's say these gentlemen decide they want to have a good time with your wife and daughter. As long as wife and daughter do what they are told, these guys will not be a threat.
If things turn out really well, they will come back to your house every week on payday.
