My question is... why did they even have to say the pledge in a different language in the first place? What's the benefit of it? What's the point?
What's the point in saying the pledge in the first place? What's the benefit?

It's school. We expect kids to learn new things. Languages and other parts of the world are a key part of the curriculum. It's not really that new...

I'm not arguing that.

Where does it state that the upset parents in Colorado are "advocating that the gov't deny someone a right to free speech"?
You said the same thing could be said about liberals and free speech. I am waiting for you to back up that assertion.

religion in school is only appropriate when its their religion.
When its the brown ppl's religion, its a problem.
Two can play that game.
Freedom of speech is only appropriate when it supports liberal views.
When it's tea party/conservative hatred being spewed, it's a problem.
This analogy forces me to categorize you as a dumbass.
So, in Arabic, you want the kids to say "I pledge allegiance, to the Christian God..."
Times have changed. "God" needs to be removed from the pledge. This country has citizens of dozens of religions, as well as an increasing population of non-religious.
Deal with it.

Typical American. Why venture outside the tiny box.

What's Conservative About the Pledge of Allegiance?

let's go back to the original pledge. fricking liberals always going back and adding things to something completely good already.

that isn't really a freedom of speech issue. Its a freedom of religion and business regulation.
Well you and I know that, but......

They were being exposed to the other languages.
Most people need to be exposed to something first before they are willing to learn about it.
It may have sparked someone into wanting to learn arabic. Maybe learn it to work for Army Intelligence.
But hey, you're right, frick other languages.

This has nothing to do with venturing anywhere.

There you go putting logic and historical fact into the argument.
You won't last long here.

Ok.
So are you in support of Immigrants not learnign English? We should just make sure everything is translated into their language so they can read it?

As if Americans have never heard other languages before.
Literally nobody is going to learn Arabic on their own because they recited the pledge in Arabic once before class.

Ah yes, hearing something in a language you don't understand sounds like gibberish because you literally have no idea what they are supposed to be saying.
But, if you know what is being said, like the pledge, then you have context and you are able to follow along. It starts to peak an interest.
Context is an amazing thing.

Who cares? They obviously wanted to learn it. There doesn't need to be any further explanation.
