And the Appalachian Trail Conservancy agrees.

LINK

I have to say, I am disappointed the ATC would take a political stance, but not all that surprised. I’m an avid hiker/backpacker and all around outdoorsman here, and have seen the shift left in my local conservation groups for a while. If there is one thing that shouldn’t be politicized, it’s the outdoors. Yet another blatantly racist article from CNN desparaging whites and claiming minorities need liberal help so their tiny brains can appreciate nature.

Leftists are mentally ill.

Why the Hell should minorities who aren't stupid enough to want to go walking over mountains be forced to so that leftist whites feel better?

Actually, it kinda makes sense on a marketing level to figure out what groups aren't using your product so you can figure out how to persuade them. National Parks are a business.

Not smart marketing to frame it in the way they did at all. These same people, if they get their wish, will be calling for the closures of these places due to overuse and abuse.

Minorities just don’t get it. They’re here to help the minorities that don’t understand. Come along, now, minorities.

we need a specific section of every national park to be a "safe space" for minorities - no whites allowed!

From what I've seen and heard, Asian visitors already outnumber any other race in the national park sys. If you want to experience the Chinese equivalent of Yellowstone, then just go to Yellowstone.

~8 out of 10 visits are by white people.
~7 out of 10 people in America are white.

This is national news?

Well that’s an interesting quote.

There's nothing prohibiting nonwhites from using public lands. They choose not to and that's somehow our fault too.

You also see a lot of Europeans out here. Specifically Northern Europeans.

But yes. So many Asian tourists.

It feels like France somedays.

If you’ve never been to GSMNP, you will be shocked at the amount of Asians and Indian people visiting. No, this article has one purpose. To berate white people.

At first i thought this was just some stupid racist thing by CNN to constantly blame white people for everything. But now im starting to think its the greatest troll of all time for CNN to troll people of color of how much they are not doing compared to white people.

It’s simply not true that they choose not to. I see minorities on almost every hike in the GSMNP. Where do native Americans rank on the hierarchy of oppressed brown people scale? Maybe that’s the problem. They're the wrong kind of minority.

It's all about education. There is a lack of it in minority neighborhoods and therefore the children do not grow up understanding the idea(ls) of nature.

The black folk I see around the LSU lakes and in state parks when I am visiting back home in LA seem to understand it just fine. This article is about blaming whitey and making some white guilt liberals feel good about “helping” the poor, ignorant minorities.

Also, I know you know how important donations are. This article by itself I don’t think will cause people to reconsider donations but, the endorsement by the ATC has made me reconsider my donations to them. It’s about conservation. Not preaching a warped political ideology.
