CNN just interviewed Rubio and brought up something weird about FL law.

If both candidates on the ticket reside in the state of FL they can’t get the 30 EV. Probably rules out little Marco.

Trump could register in NY given how many days he has been forced to be in the state this year.

It’s the US Constitution that says that, not FL law. Electors can give all votes to Trump, all to a FL VP or split them between the two but they cannot vote for a President and VP from the same state. It’s the same for all 57 states.

How’s that work for Newsom and Kamala? Is she still considered a California resident as VP?

It's a leftover relic from the days in which the vice president was just the second highest vote recipient. I believe the idea was to prevent one state from having both the Pres and VP. Either Rubio or Trump could establish residence outside of FL and cure the issue. Dick Cheney actually had to do just that and move residency from TX to Wyoming in 2000.

12th Amendment. Electors cannot vote for two people from the Electors' same state. So, a Florida elector cannot vote for Trump as President and another Florida resident as Veep.

But if Trump wants someone from Florida as his running mate, I suppose he could just move again. Not to New York, though. He's better off avoiding that state.

He also has a Trump Tower in Vegas.
