Only leftists have actually been acting in a violent manner. It may be why Trump supporters are concerned now. Nobody on the right was violently attacking leftists.

I think his assertion is that visible displays of killing the siting president is more likely to cause people to want to kill the sitting president. So CNN did not report on the Obama-based production in 2013 bc they didn't want anything bad to happen to Obama. But now they r reporting the play because they want Trump dead.

I take a different view of it. I think that CNN believed that no one would give a shite if they reported the 2013 version. But in our significantly more hostile political climate of today, it's something that they know will rack up clicks like crazy! When you think about how many people clicked the OP's link just to see how CNN was lying, writing an article that's meant to simply troll trumpkins might make a bit of fiscal sense. Even if it means that CNN is run by fundamentally shitty people

The fact they do this for all presidents wasn't apparent to me, and I'd imagine most. Still tasteless though

Do you ever stop and ask why it is that Breit Bart, Fox News, and the right wing blogs that write about this seem to leave out context like you just mentioned?

Its almost like Fox News and Breit Bart are the very thing people are charging at CNN for.

They didn't report on it for the same reason no one reported on it outside of review sites, because no side made a big fricking deal about it til Trumpkins did.

It's just like the litany of things the left gets mad about, like a Moana costume or rubbing Trump's head on Fallon.

It becomes news because a group decides to make it news.

And here is the peaceful rhetoric of the alt-left.

It's truely a mental and social disorder

The world's a big, complex, messy place. That necessarily means that you will never find a source that's able to tell you everything about anything. Which is why reading sources originating from multiple points of view is so important.

No one should ever get all of their news from breitbart, but there is nothing wrong with using it to contribute to a well-rounded stock of source material.

It is news because a despicable leftist just tried to assassinate a Republican Congressman.

I agree, that's the point I was trying to get to with my second paragraph. Thanks for making it clearer

I'm pretty sure it was news before the shooting happened

So is James Harris Jackson, Sean Urbanski, Alexandre Bissonnette, and Jimmy Booth

All fake news.

The left by no means has a monopoly on violence. This is a problem that no side should stand for without an enormous bar being met, and no side currently has the justification for that.

Much like most of CNN's coverage, if you are looking to inform yourself, your time is probably better spent elsewhere. Breit Bart is a mouthpiece for Trump and continues to show it is not a reliable arbiter of reporting news stories. You are likely to be misled or kept ignorant of context in pretty much every instance. That is poor journalism. In fact it is more akin to propaganda then journalism.

This has been a news story for over a week. Breitbart ran a dozen stories on it days before the shooting.

Started because the right got upset about something that has been going on for years. Then cheering on when their hoopla forced sponsors to pull out.

It continues to be a talking point on the right because if nothing else, the right wing media is very good at staying on message and driving their talking points home from all angles. This play, even though there is no evidence the shooter was even aware of its existence, fits right into that. Even though it really doesn't in context.

Do you not think that it's important to know what trump is saying?

Even if you are certain that the information is false, knowing what the "president's mouthpiece" has to say about it seems like a pretty necessary condition to having a fully informed view on the subject.

Sun-Tzu once said 'in order to defeat my enemy, I must know him'. Part of what is making the reality of a trump presidency so hard for the left to accept is that they fundamentally don't know or understand the people who voted for him.
