The politicizing of casualties is nothing new. This has happened during ever war in the modern era. I guess the difference is that the lines are more clearly drawn when it comes to how polarized everyone is. I don't doubt that the republicans would be doing the same thing if the shoe were on the other foot.
That said, it's still kind of sad when you consider that the soldier's families have to listen to this.
