I believe it will replace the tunnel.

I mean they thanked the White House and Department of Transportation.
But they didn't say his name!!!

Why should they specifically say Trump's name? Was the deal to build the bridge dead and Trump personally resurrected it? Did Trump come up with the idea in the first place? Did Trump secure funding for the bridge?

Yes, it will be a new bridge only over the Mobile River. They pushed the Bayway part of the project to the future so at least the Mobile River Bridge could be built with the anticipated funds now, but that will suck going from 6 lanes on the new bridge back down to 4 on the old Bayway.
Only issue is that there will be tolls on the bridge.
From Fox 10:
quote:
The latest framework abandons plans – at least initially – to replace the Bayway. ALDOT long had said that was a requirement for federal funds. But ALDOT said the Trump administration has agreed to contribute funding for the bridge while pushing a bayway replacement to the future. The other key change involves toll rates, which would be $3 per crossing for any passenger vehicle with an ALGO pass. That is higher than the $2.50 limit that state and local leaders committed to in 2021, when they resurrected the project after a revolt against higher tolls killed an earlier version.
ALDOT officials argued that the 50-cent increase is well below inflation since 2021.quote:That also is higher than what the state originally proposed five years ago. Drivers with multi-state passes, like a SunPass, will pay $7.70. The Causeway and tunnels will remain free.
Drivers also can opt for a $60-per-month unlimited pass[.
I wish LA DOTD would offer an unlimited pass on the Leeville Bridge and Belle Chasse Bridge. If they did, you would have had a lot less blow back on the tolls on the Belle Chasse Bridge. Maybe they can even add a pass for the Causeway and soon to be tolled when completed Lake Chuck Bridge. Make it some $350 - OT Special a year pass and treat it like a registration fee.
