China is currently not an economic threat and is imploding internally.

Currently, China has been experiencing some pretty severe
deflation for possibly a year or more. A different article from Reuters from January gets into some details.

quote:

China's consumer prices declined for a third month in December while factory-gate prices extended their prolonged slide, highlighting persistent deflationary pressures in an economy struggling to mount a solid recovery.

The consumer price index (CPI) shed 0.3% in December from a year earlier, and was up 0.1% month-on-month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Friday. November's index dropped 0.5% in annual and monthly terms.

Oh, and what was going on with everyone's favorite Chinese investment industry, housing?

quote:

The People's Bank of China (PBOC), which lifted policy bank loans at the end of last year through its pledged supplementary lending (PSL) facility, has fuelled expectations of increased support for the country's ailing housing sector.

Beijing accuses Evergrande of inflating revenues by $78 billion

quote:

Chinese regulators have accused Evergrande and its founder of inflating revenues by $78 billion, putting the insolvent property developer at the heart of the country’s biggest ever financial fraud case.

This is after Evergrande was recently ordered to liquidate

So what about America? We are extending our lead in GDP and have expanded the gap

quote:

The US has pulled further ahead of China in the race for world’s biggest economy, thanks in part to a vibrant American consumer.

US gross domestic product rose 6.3% in nominal terms — that is, unadjusted for inflation — last year, outpacing China’s 4.6% gain.

Here is a YT video I just watched discussing how people are too poor to even spend for Chinese New Year

Do we still think BRICS will have any impact on the USD?

Can we stop with projecting fear porn about China?

When they ship Fentanyl into the US every day, they threaten our economy, regardless the health of theirs

If being for freedom is this, then I guess I am

I believe in freedom (capitalism). I don't think that makes me "China first" considering we are winning that war.

I’d be most worried about an enemy when things aren’t going well for them.

Well, that’s convenient.

As they get more desperate, they probably become more dangerous.

I welcome the info about China.

I do think this country's economic situation is not healthy and we jerk off over borderline meaningless GDP numbers. We consume a bunch of stuff. Big deal. Have you bought food lately? We are adding a trillion in debt every 100 days. Consumer credit card debt is like a trillion.

Worried they will do what, exactly?

China doesn't have a military that can project to the US.

Any aggression counter to US interest will destroy their economy by having the US and Western nations trade less with them.

The CCP is not going to commit suicide by creating the foundation for revolution.

I’m hopefully not as much of a mental midget as you are, and I would never celebrate other people failures, or shortcomings

This is a weird, sad post… Containing information that everyone here already knows

Exactly.

Things have change quite a bit over the years, those indicators arent as telling as they once were.

China as doomed, we dont need to waste time hurrying their demise.

If you slow their exports of steel, electronics, ect, they'll ship more Fentanyl.

Thats economics.

It's about relativity, not absolute status.

There are a lot of issues with our economy and debt situation.

However, we're still better off than everyone else. The only people who have better stats on paper are effectively a protectorate of the US.

That's why the USD has only become stronger in this post-Covid economic decline.

It’s hard to say there’s anything WE are doing right now that is anything but inflation driven. What you posted doesn’t help to dispel that notion.

Not militarily.

They'll up production of drugs and counterfeit products though.

Every developed economy is facing inflation.

China is actually facing inflation in many sectors, the problem is the emperor has no clothes otherwise and deflation is raging elsewhere.

The response to Covid, everywhere, "broke the camel's back" for inflation everywhere in the world that has a developed economy(and in may places where they don't). This includes China.
