Rates are still higher than they were when you were telling others to wait to refi, which was before Trump won and before he decided he was fine with a recession. Every break has gone “your” way and you’re still wrong.

It was the CCP that made this happen. And if you think it was an accident you’re naive.

Of course we're likely to never know, for sure. On the other hand, the "unspecified virus of unknown origin" solved 2 problems for the CCP:

1. Immediately took the Hong Kong protests off the front page. It also gave them cover to send everyone inside, by force.

2. Replaced Trump with Biden.

I'm not saying that anyone who benefits from anything like this, ever, also caused it, but that's the absolute first place one should always look.

Nope. I'm completely correct.

The reason you're seeing the impact you're seeing is every country depends on our markets. They're all floundering to figure out what to do.

We created China's superpower status via trade. We could just as easily move all of our production to another country that isn't throwing massive tariffs on our imports, or better yet even bring it home.

They need us. We don't need them.

This is why I hate politics. The double standard on everything.

Can you imagine this board if Biden were doing the same thing in his first 100 days and the stock market was about to be under 40K? I can’t stand the guy, but it’s just ridiculous how that works and message boards will support their guy regardless of anything and rip the other side, regardless of anything.

I’m sure everyone on here would he praising him for making the world hate us and losing their arse in the market…

I would have fully supported it. Biden screwed up when he eliminated the Trump tariffs in his first 100 days.

Trump clearly showed this works during his first term. It will work again this time.

This is why we should’ve never been dealing with China in the first place. They will literally starve their citizens just to win a trade battle with Trump

Covid also has fricked China economically, speeding up their economic decline pretty greatly.

Other than bourbon, what exactly does China import from the US?

Tesla.

Even though their EV's are exciting, they are less mature.

Tesla is still seen as a status symbol, like luxury cars here.

We cannot "bring it home". Even if we fricked our economy and SOL to be at China's status to make it viable, we don't have the population.

I wonder if this is tacked on the pigs from their farms here. If not, the Trump needs to make exporting them hell.

Also, cancel all Chinese visas, and send them all back and tax money remittance.

We can win this war if we finally fight without "feels" and fear.

Most communist leaders couldn’t care less. We need to shift our focus on countries that actually want free trade. Move to cut ties with China all together

Because they are dumb and willing to decrease their population's purchasing power to artificially prop up their domestic production and collect revenue from the ones with enough wealth to buy imported. That's the whole point

"Trade war" irrationality.

Sowell in 2018

quote:

Thoughts on the Trump trade war?

Oh my gosh, an utter disaster. I happen to believe that the Smoot-Hawley tariffs had more to do with setting off the Great Depression of the 1930s than the stock market crash. Unemployment never reached double digits in any of the 12 months that followed the crash of October 1929, but it hit double digits within six months of passage of Smoot-Hawley, and stayed there for a decade.

quote:

What about the view by President Trump that other countries are ripping us off by running trade surpluses?

It’s pathetic. The very phrase “trade surpluses” gives half a story. There are countries that supply mainly goods, physical goods, and there are other things like services that other countries provide, and the United States gets a lot of money from providing services. To talk about one part of the trading and ignore the other part fails to understand that money is money no matter whether it’s from goods or services.

When you set off a trade war, like any other war, you have no idea how that’s going to end. You’re going to be blindsided by all kinds of consequences. You do not make America great again by raising the price to Americans, which is what a tariff does.
