Childhood speech delays are up 300% since the start of Covid

Hey, if it saves one life right? Twitter

Also Toddlers used to be only 5% of speech pathology appointments. Now they’re 20%. The kids of this generation (after the Zoomers) will never forgive the Boomers and Millennials for what we’ve done. The good news is they’ll be the strong men generation.

And generations I think should be shortened to 10 or so years at this point.

Greatest- 1901-1927
Silent- 1928-1945
Boomers- 1946-1964
Gen X- 1965-1983
Millennials- 1984-1995
Zoomers- 1996-2007
Covidians- 2008-2019
????- 2020-2031? (They won’t remember Covid, so different category from ones that will, and who knows what will happen this decade to shape them. War Torn would be my best guess)

Anybody with half a brain knew locking kids out of schools, putting masks on them, keeping them from socializing and learning to read was all going to seriously frick them up.

Covidians are ignorant and selfish AF. Teachers are nearly as bad.

I’m a millennial that identifies as a gen x. Mainly because I get along with older folk more and most people in my age range are retarded.

My wife is a librarian at local school and I get to hear these stories way more than I like. The kids are even supposed to be masked when they are in speech therapy. How in the hell does that make any sense. Frustrating and infuriating at the same time.

I wish I could counter your point on this but I can't.

My 3 year old is going through speech delay. So is my friend’s 4 year old. It’s tough and it sucks.

The world got locked down when my kid was 1 year old.

Because we’ve lost our minds. If you think we Millennials are an angry generation, just wait until the Covidians come of age. We’re sucking on the dry teets of the Boomers right now that are hogging all the food for themselves, and when they die we’ll have nothing to provide the generation that suffered the most under Covid. It’s going to get bad. The Covidians will hate the Millennials way more than we hate the Boomers (although that generation will hate them too).

Tim Dillon put it best on how we’re going to have to explain this to our kids and future generations: The Party is fricking Over!

I've told this here before but it bears repeating.

My youngest is a freshman in high school. He'll turn 15 in April. So going back to March of 2020 when they cancelled the final 9 weeks of school in his 7th grade year, this Covid bull shite started when he was 12. The fall of 2020 in 8th grade saw his school go to an A/B schedule meaning they went half the time. They finally went full time starting in January of 2021. Masked the entire time...and as someone that made it inside the school a couple of time, it was like Covid prison.

Started high school in fall of 2021 with masks again, only to drop them back in October I think whenever our Dear Leader Edwards decreed it so. the first day he went without a mask he came home and told me, "You know what? It was weird seeing my friends' faces. Some of them I hadn't seen since way back in 7th grade and they'd all changed. and some of my new friends I'd literally never seen before today even though I've been going to school with them for months now."

Thankfully nothing bothers him so this was more interesting than anything else. But for those that do, and for those much younger, this has been extremely detrimental and anyone thinking otherwise is just willfully ignorant.

I know someone that his daughter didn’t want to take off her mask because she didn’t want her other classmates to realize she was ugly. That has to be one of the saddest things for a parent to hear. It’s not true either, but we’ve just destroyed these kids minds and self esteem.

That is seriously one of the saddest things I've ever read.

re: Childhood speech delays are up 300% since the start of Covid
What our leaders have done to kids through this pandemic is inexcusable and unforgivable.

More kids have been shot in Chicago last year than have died of COVID throughout this pandemic. And yet our leaders, led by Democrats and teacher unions and helicopter moms, shut down schools for the better part of two years. All for a virus that isn’t as dangerous to kids as the ride to school every morning.

Virtual learning is a joke. It is vastly inferior education for kids. The past two years are a total waste in child development. I know... I have a sister and a brother in law who are teachers.

Not only are the last two years a waste for all kids, but the last two years have been devastating, probably irreparably, for kids with learning difficulties. The kids that need personal instruction have been damaged the most.

Social skills and personal development have been warped and the country will deal with the fallout results for generations ahead. Kids have grown up isolated in a climate of fear pushed upon them and preached by wacko parents, selfish teachers, and charlatan political leaders.

The damages done are widespread and multifaceted and will be significant.

When Trump or DeSantis get in office, they need to charge Randi Weingarten and the leaders of these teachers unions and school boards (go scorched earth on Loudoun and prosecute all of them) with crimes against humanity for what they’ve done to these kids.

Good job, everyone!

You did great!

March it was one thing when we didn’t know what the virus was. Schools should have opened back in April the second we knew what it was and just tackle on the hours lost from say a month of Covid onto the summer break.

False.

This was the inevitable outcome with any give.

Not one second.
