I called into question Oates ridiculous assertion that this a show of force from the left. It isn't true. In a typical setting if you were discussing this with someone intending to be honest they would either provide evidence that it is a "show of force from the left" or admit they were wrong. And here you're charging me with not bringing "facts?" My facts here are self-evident. Troops are there because POTUS wants them there. If anyone challenges this they need to present facts themselves showing how someone other than POTUS can authorize this.

Just to play devil’s advocate here, what are they going to be able to say about it without contradicting themselves?
They’ve been rattling on for almost 3 weeks about this violent insurrection/coup attempt that threatened all their lives, so now they've got all the security they could possibly need to make sure it doesn’t happen again and the inauguration is safeguarded. If they complain about it or admit that it’s excessive, it seems like they’d be completely undermining the narrative they committed to on 1/6.

So it's true that the President is directly in the chain of command for the DC National Guard, which currently has ~2700 soliders. However, from their webpage

The D.C National Guard was formed in 1802 by President Thomas Jefferson to defend the newly created District of Columbia. As such, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard is subordinate solely to the President of the United States. This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army.
So there are 2 people that can call up the DC guard other than POTUS
As to all of the other troops in DC, the various states have sent troops based on calls from the Pentagon

Yes. Not the left. And my point is that even if someone else had called them up POTUS could shut it all down with a single phone call. The fact he has said absolutely nothing about it seems pretty good indication he is on board with what is going on.
Note that nobody from the left has the authority to do this. And even the states sending troops would have to okay it with POTUS. He is in charge in DC.
Actually, I think what has happened is he has handed this entire thing off to FEMA with his latest emergency declaration for DC. I think we may end up finding out that POTUS has already stepped aside.
My entire point was that this isn't a show of force from the left.
1. Nobody on the left has the authority.
2. Joe Biden wouldn't be claiming that the troops are there to kill him if it were.
