Mayor Johnson’s $1B TIF sweep to CPS isn’t “investment”; it’s a fiscal Ponzi scheme. The 4.78% levy hike adds insult to injury, squeezing homeowners already crushed by 17% tax spikes while CPS burns $23.6M on camel rides in Egypt and Finland “professional development.”
This isn’t about schools—it’s about unelected boards exploiting loopholes to bypass PTELL caps, robbing families without a vote. When bureaucrats claim “federal funding cuts” as justification, remember: CPS’s own audit found $339M in negative cash flow due to reckless spending, not austerity.
The system isn’t broke—it’s rigged. Defund the bloat, sunset TIFs, and let taxpayers keep what’s theirs.

Can anyone explain how the school board has the authority to vote in taxes?
Why can't they just do it like LA does, hold tax elections on obscure weekends with little to no publicity, ship in just enough voters to override the votes of those paying attention.

sunset TIFs
The city's budget passed last week is relying on over $1 billion in TIF funding. The city council totally sideline the mayor and refused his budget.
