An 11 turbine wind farm isn’t really anything. Sounds like a test site or something. We have over 30 on our land.

Are they still pumping oil out of that area. I worked drilling as a younger man by Douglas and lived in Casper.

PR guy mentioned this won’t affect any wells. Wondering if the turbines were for power generation for well work where no other power was available.

The farm has a strange story. It is a small 11 turbine farm built on an old refinery site. It was built specifically to provide power to a local network. After the end of IIRC a ten-year commercial agreement, the company no longer needed the power and did not reup. Chevron could have easily sold its power onto the main grid, but it was only connected through the local grid, and there is too much congestion to transfer the excess powerid to the main gr. So after 18 months of nonproduction, Chevron lost their use permit. So they had to remove the reusable parts, scrap the metal and dispose of the blades. Someone mentioned burying the blades but I think that is pretty arre now since a company (I think) in Missouri has been grinding up turbine blades for concrete reinforcement material.

The companies who own them make much higher profit margins than coal, gas or nuke power plants.
