Sure but they could have just as easily used historically accurate demographics, they deliberately chose to use minorities to make a political statement.

Street lights and extras walking across the screen are cast the wrong race? The extras??!
At this point you're just looking to be offended. Go outside.

It's not terribly inaccurate. Garfield really did not want to be President. The speech he gave although in support of John Sherman was more about the abuse of the civil service appointments and how people like Conklin were a problem. He did not get nominated until the 26th ballot and won the nomination on the 38th. This was all true. His vociferous support for black voting rights was absolutely true going back to 1865 when he had first entered the House.
Chester Arthur was a NYC party machine guy who had been the customs chief in NYC.....
The part about the Doctor is not entirely accurate although the first Doctor to treat Garfield was indeed a black doctor from the Freedman's hospital. But the portrayal of the President's physician is accurate and yet guilty of ommission. The Doctor was actually a friend of Garfield's from Ohio.....and yes his probe made Garfield's condition considerably worse.
In general the history is largely accurate on the big issues and the main players.
I thought Nick Offerman was great as Chester A.Arthur. Shannon was pretty good, but his voice is so his that he's playing himself, except he has a beard

Plenty of history buffs in here. Was Garfield as socially progressive in his time as the show depicted? I took it with relative acceptance until the daughter started with her melodrama about the Chinese. Then I was like wait.. am I getting Netflixed across the board

That was like maybe 3 minutes of the story and largely insignificant to the overall story. But Garfield like a lot of Northern Republicans at the time was pro vote for the freedmen

I never said it was upsetting or even persistent. My only point was them shoehorning that scene into the script reminded me that it was Netflix and just maybe they took some liberties with overall accuracies
I really enjoyed the series. I could watch hideous Michael Shannon in almost anything. He’s one of my favorite actors

I pay $4.99/mo for OAN and $13.99/mo for YT Premium. Decoupling from mainstream television and propaganda has been awesome.
I finally canceled Netflix when that f@g CEO gave a $7 million donation to Kamala's campaign... It was probably all tax payer money he received from some sort of kickback through the Obama's via an NGO or USAID funding or something.

I like Michel Shannon, but his voice, at least for me, is so distinctive, it always seems like he's playing......himself in every role.
