The Republican stance on abortion would be far better received if they actually had a plan for these unwanted children. Save the child, but cut its welfare/entitlement programs is both a losing, and shitty, stance to the person carrying said baby.

60's feminist talking points are really the best. Thanks, Grandma.

How about granting additional welfare on the condition it's paid back?

Or free sterilization.

Good lord.

If you are actually serious, then go move in with the Taliban.

I hate abortion. I think it has been trivialized and desensitized to the point of absurdity. I want it to be the absolute last resort.

I’m not putting the right to ban it completely above national defense, economic security, law enforcement, etc.

It’s absolutist rhetoric like this that low-engagement voters buy into, and here we are.

Can you list all the great Republican accomplishments that were the result of years of winking and nodding over Roe?

I’m not the biggest “abortion guy” in the world. I have my moral stance on it, but as a political issue it generally bores me to tears and you will rarely see me carrying on about it to anyone any in any way really.

That being said, this idea that all of a sudden NOW the Party has just doomed itself and squandered so much great promise BECAUSE OF DOBBS, is just laughable at best and mostly just pure fantasy drivel. Let it wash itself out for the people who care about it. It’s not like there are all these great ideas that are being squandered because of it. frick, if anything, let the stupid vapid people have a stupid vapid “cause” that is meaningless to most people to obsess over versus shite that might actually affect me in a bad way.

Let things be politically worked out. Winking and nodding over everything hasn’t advanced anything meaningful as best I can tell, unless I’m missing something.

You're welcome. Maybe you should listen and stop taking so many L's in a row.

But it's a realistic solution to a problem the Democrats want to continue in perpetuity.

A little discomfort now saves untold millions of lives that will be lived in poverty and enslavement.

All of y’all are missing the point.

Roe is gone. It’s now up to the states. The mission isn’t over for many conservatives. Instead of giving democrats an EASY victory from their abortion stance you have to actually fight to make sure they can’t use it as a singular line of attack to get democrats elected. This isn’t rocket science.

They’ve fricked up the country everywhere they exist. Don’t let them use abortion as their one way to motivate their base. Letting democrats have abortion is yet again punting the ball back to them when you just drove the ball 75 yards down the field into the red zone.

Roe v Wade was debated and decided by politicians a generation ago. If you make it your sole platform now, you're taking on the moral argument that was divisive and emotional but fought by your predecessors. It was decided. It was wrapped up. Keep opening the wound and you gotta deal with the consequences.

I think the GOPe knows it's a wedge to keep them from winning but make sure they're still a solid challenger. It will remain that way until people with a brain take over the party.

Hell, if we paid welfare Moms $10,000 to get sterilized after the first out of wedlock baby, we would save billions.

Why do we always have to punt on our issues. We destroyed marriage because people were complaining we are out of touch of lgbtq issues. Now we have to allow babies to die because we are worried about elections? Make the democrats have to change.

They hate welfare but also want to force people to have unwanted children.

It’s fricking stupid. The country is done.

You have hit on the real problem.

Trump is the leader of the GOP in the eyes of voters.

The implication that smart people are above the debate is remarkably sinister when talking about human life. Certainly couldn't be construed to indict the education system's indoctrination.
