Such as:

“Do you own any firearms?”

“How many firearms do you own?”

“Do you store all of your firearms in your home?”

Etc, etc.

Go.

Unconstitutional. Falls outside the scope of the census.

I don't see any justification to include this in a population census. Frankly, I think race and ethnicity is a questionable, albeit useful, inclusion to the census. But any inclusion that is unnecessary AND could reasonably decrease response rates should not be include since accurate estimates of the population is the essential goal.

They already do at the doctors office.

I don't understand why asking whether you're a citizen or not would impact response rates. Even if there is some ulterior motive, the argument against it is asinine.

But unlike the census, one is required to answer a physicians questionnaire, nor are the required to even go to that physician. Besides, I highly doubt any significant number of physicians ask anything about guns, UNLESS they are doing it for something like assessing suicidal risk.

No they don't...
Unless you are there for psychiatric reasons, questions regarding firearms are completely out of the ordinary. Doctors don't waste their time asking about stuff that is irrelevant besides shooting the shite type questions.

There are a lot of people that refuse to do a number of mundane things because they're afraid the government is tracking them, despite not doing anything worthy of tracking in the first place.

So I could see how people could either not know, or not believe, that confidential information would be kept confidential. Or even then, I could see how they would be afraid that they would target areas that had a high number of non-citizens, even without any identifying information.

I think the citizen question could be useful, but at the same time, a more comprehensive and accurate census would be even more useful for that since we can pretty reliably determine how many citizens there are.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

I’d find a new dentist.

I only answer questions reasonably calculated to answer the mandate of the census - i.e. count the population for apportionment.

So, all that crap about how many toilets you have, etc., I just disregard all that.

Dude. It’s a hypothetical. So let’s suppose that they did what they needed to do to make it happen.

Yes. They absolutely do. They did and they will. It's in Obamacare. PCPs HAVE to ask. Are required to.

Don't believe it if you don't want to. Doesn't make it not true.

I like your reply Ace, because it underlies the whole issue. If you don’t want to answer the question, then DON’T! There’s no law that says you HAVE to answer every question in a census!
And (Wait for it!) that’s why I don’t really have a problem with the question being included. It’s not like everyone HAS to answer it.

Ah, I guess this was the answer for which you were fishing.
