Journalism appears to be dead in this country, and that's saying something seeing how communications/journalism bachelor degrees conferred have risen 750% since 1970.

Bias in the media is one thing

A MSM outlet blatantly falsifying the title of their article to smear someone is something different and should have consequences.

From whom? We don't want to have a ministry of new media, do we?

I still have faith, maybe it's a dream rather, that liberals will call out this and demand better from their liberal outlets.

If they don't, the rhetoric will never change because the MSM will continue to escalate and that will further inflame the weaker leftists which are growing in numbers.

Yeah, this is all new territory for the establishment media.

It's not a false title though:
quote:

"We are pleased to announce today the signing of the letter of offer and acceptance for the purchase of the F-15QA fighter jets, with an initial cost of $12 billion dollars," read the Qatari Defense Minister's statement on Wednesday afternoon.
The authorization occured before Trump took office, but apparently the specifics of that $12 billion were contractually agreed upon yesterday.

Unless the administration had a legal obligation to make the deal, then their choice to exercise the pre-authorization was solely on them. Thus they "sold" arms that they didn't have to sell.

Let me know when Trump receives $12 billion for selling Qatar weapons, okay?

A more truthful but bias title would have been, "U.S. sell Qatar $12 billion in weapons days after Trump accuses it of funding terrorism."

Was there a headline saying Obama agrees to sell the $12B?

If there was, this is no big deal. If there wasn't well, it's typical leftist MSM doing leftist MSM things to meet their agenda.

I don't like the arms deal at all, but the facts aren't in dispute. The deal was brokered during the Obama administration and only now is the deal being officially finalized on ink and paper. No, I do not like that Trump allowed the deal to proceed, but it is disingenuous and misleading at best to run a title "Trump sells". Everyone knows what they are implying, and the title is just vague enough to allow anti-Trump people to justify it.

The explosion of "qualified" people is actually part of the problem. It's very easy to get a degree in "journalism". It's one of the easiest majors at many schools. Thus the amount of professionalism amongst those calling themselves "journalists" has also plummeted.

It's also depressed salaries (along with shift in media consumption).

Well that could work, but just like "Alabama" is interchangeable with "Nick Saban" when discussing a recruiting class on national signing day, the distinction doesn't impact accuracy just specificity.

But sticking with the recruiting theme, it's like a new coach officially signing a recruit who verbally committed months early with the previous coach, days after he was charged with murder.

If the roles were reversed, and Trump had approved the deal in November but Obama finalized it now, how do you think the title would read then?

Toddy was enamored with the title yesterday.

I guess CBS wanted to shift the narrative from the progressive terrorist attack.

You can see how a progressive person not stable would be outraged by this and try something crazy against republican lawmakers....like they did yesterday.

Just wondering if you can clarify - there was an arms deal In place in November but it is unclear if this was actually part of that agreement. And in the end who ultimately signed off in the deal? Cause I believe it was Mattis. Seems as though if Trumpy wasn't on board then it wouldn't have happened

I don't know, but that hypothetical is irrelevant to the accuracy of the title. But if we are delving into hypotheticals, I don't believe Obama (or any other past president) would have public tweets based on SA's accusations.
