It is, but Republicans have had 7 years to develop a "replace" plan and thus far have no plan they agree on. What they do have are scattered collections of talking points, which are fairy tales.

Maybe the Republicans should vote on a plan without reading it and hope it goes well.

It doesn't exist, so have fun pretending your talking points from Ryan or Price fit the bill.

Look you think the Dems are going to say "yeah the Reps have a plan, and it's probably a little better than Obamacare." No they said "we have Obamacare, so go frick yourself." The Reps will repeat this to the Dems soon.......SOON!!!

It could be politicized but it likely means more uninsured and more costs.

Well, considering their track record here recently, I doubt it. Regardless of who is in charge, they have gone out of their way to make horrible estimates to make the current system look good.

Also, to make your point valid, we'd have to assume Bush and/or congress appointed competent people to run it. I'm not willing to take that stance.

Go ahead and link that magical plan that covers more people, with better insurance, for a cheaper cost as Republicans (and Trump) have promised.

Don't hold your breath, though. The tooth fairy will show up first.

Who are the Dems here? Because the CBO is neutral, and run by a Bush appointee with a Congressionally-appointed head.

How can the CBO project how many people will be uninsured when they don't know what will replace it?

Could their historical accuracy have something to do with that?

quote:

CBO’s 2009 premium projection did not accurately predict that low health care inflation would continue. CBO also projected that the economy would grow much faster than it actually has; the nation’s 2016 gross domestic product (GDP) is roughly 7% lower than CBO projected it would at the time. This is important since growth in health care spending and growth in the overall economy are positively correlated. Thus, given the much slower rate of growth in overall health care spending than expected due to factors largely unrelated to the ACA, we should expect premiums to be below projections. However, in an indication of how much the ACA increased premiums, the nominal 2017 premium for the ACA benchmark plan—the plan to which the law’s subsidies are pegged—is actually 1% above what CBO expected when the law passed.

Moreover, ACA plans—extremely high deductible policies with very narrow provider networks—are generally lower quality than CBO expected when the law passed. Therefore, it not an apples-to-apples comparison to contrast 2017 premiums with what was projected in 2009. Since lower quality coverage carries lower premiums, the larger than expected premiums for the ACA benchmark plans are in effect even worse.

HHS’ report also stated that “[t]hrough 2016, Marketplace rates remained below initial projections from the independent [CBO], and below the cost of comparable coverage in the employer market.” This is misleading for the previously mentioned reasons, plus it fails to account for insurers receiving larger than expected back-end subsidies, which allowed insurers to offer lower premiums, nor does it account for the huge losses incurred by insurers. After correctly adjusting for these factors, ACA plan premiums prior to 2016 were above CBO’s initial projections and also above the cost of comparable employer coverage.

Crap in, crap out.

Everyone in Washington has an agenda. This organization originally said Obamacare would be the best thing ever. And now that it's destroyed healthcare, they're trying to cover their asses.

Also, very few sources are unbiased. That's why informed people read multiple sources before they make an opinion, and they try to account for biases in the sources. But you're an indoctrinated liberal, so that's a foreign idea to you

There are still 33+ million uninsured that was supposed to all be taken care of by ACA. It's a failure. My premiums and deductibles have already doubled under ACA. It's a failure.

The premiums and deductibles would actually improve because of the provision to remove the state boundaries and allow competition among insurance companies.

Go on, keep telling yourself the ACA is working.
