you are mistaken in even thinking a defense is needed here; they are the standard. you can whine about your notion of their accuracy for all time, but until you can demonstrate some reasonable alternative standard your claim is arbitrary and not based on anything empirical or reasoned

People seem to misunderstand the role of the CBO. The vast majority of their projections are based on current data/policy and assumes things will not change. They can't make projections based on more/less regulation than currently exists.
