Ashe, 61, died of injuries while lifting a barbell on a bench, the Westchester, New York, medical examiner's office told CNN Thursday.
Earlier U.N. spokesman Dan Thomas told CNN that Ashe died of a heart attack. He now tells CNN that the information came from a newspaper report in Antiqua, as well as, a former colleague of Ashe's. The medical examiner clarified Ashe died from traumatic asphyxia and suffered laryngeal fractures while lifting.

In yet another DNC-related death, this one less than a month after Rich was murdered, attorney Shawn Lucas, 38, was found dead in his bathroom.

On July 3, 2016, Lucas helped serve the DNC with a lawsuit claiming then-DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz “rigged the primary for Hillary Clinton.”


The complaint was served before Wasserman Schultz resigned amid the WikiLeaks email scandal on July 24.

Less than one month after he helped serve the lawsuit, Lucas’ girlfriend found him dead in his bathroom. Lucas reportedly died of polypharmacy overdose, which is an overdose caused by a lethal combination of drugs. According to Heavy, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of Washington, D.C., said in November 2016 that Lucas’ death was accidental and was caused by the “combined adverse effects of fentanyl [a synthetic opioid pain medication], cyclobenzaprine [a muscle relaxant], and mitragynine .”

Whisenant’s career with the U.S. attorney’s office was only a few months old when the 37-year-old prosecutor was found dead in the water along Hollywood Beach early Wednesday. His death, which is being investigated as a crime by the Hollywood Police Department, was devastating news to his family and friends from Miami to Jacksonville, where he was raised by his parents, both medical doctors.

Whisenant’s tragic death, at least for now, remains a mystery.

A Hollywood police spokeswoman initially said Whisenant may have suffered a head wound caused by a possible gunshot or other type of trauma. But no more details were available on Friday, said Hollywood Police Department spokeswoman Miranda Grossman.

The FBI’s Miami office said it was aware of Whisenant’s death but not involved in the investigation.

Normally, if the death of a federal prosecutor or agent were retaliatory in nature or related to a criminal case, both the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office would be sounding the alarm and pursuing an aggressive investigation.
