Can’t lie, it reminds me of the South Park episode where Canada goes on strike. Nobody cares.

They're one of our most important trade partners and share the largest unprotected border in the world with us

Do y’all realize how difficult it would be to defend the entire northern border of the United States? Not that we need to defend it from Canada, obviously. Their threat level is negative. But if they were to allow it to be a staging ground for whatever actual power we go to war with, we’re talking about entirely different dynamics. We’d probably need to deploy a third of our forces just to defend that northern border. It’s a massive defensive line.

So Canada would invite shitheads in their country and expect no wrong and think there wouldn’t be defensive strikes if staging a foreign military on our border?

Come on man that’s dumb asf. Canada is just huffing and puffing because they don’t want to pay their fair share.

Things have to be either negative, neutral or positive

Deteriorating relations with Canada is an obvious negative and you'd have to be brain dead to convince yourself of anything else

Well brain dead describes their movement. So I am leaning that way.

I cant imagine any American thinking bad blood with our neighbors is a positive. But here we are.

The Signal app issue is another perfect example of this

That's a slam dunk easy to critique faux pas that should result in immediate termination

And they fall for the spin

Completely worthless retards

Yep, they love the drama more than actual success. They are led by influencers who would jump to the other side for a few dollars more.

In essence, your neighbor has been using your wifi and netflix accounts without contributing. When you ask him to pay a portion and he refuses, you change your passwords. Suddenly he doesn't want to be your friend anymore and that is ok.

If all it took for Canada to take this stance was the U.S. President putting his citizens’ interest first for five minutes, then there never was any relationship worth having.

The people in charge there are saying that they are enemies of the people of the United States. We will remember that.

A "neighbor" that charges me twice as much to mow my lawn as I do them?

You're an idiot. "Relations" are a two way street and Canada has been abusing the relationship with us for a long time now. Ignoring that because you hate Trump doesn't make your point valid. Sometimes, to improve a bad relationship, you have to draw some lines and reinforce your own welfare. Then negotiating can honestly begin... and it will. Canada needs us far more than we need anything from them and that will eventually come into play, no matter how loudly their marxist PM cries about it.

Was thinking the same.

Next President comes in, we'll go back to being friends again which I think we still are. They're just arse-hurt a little right now over the tariffs.

We've been getting screwed for a bit, comes with the territory of being the lone super power.

Now that we're happy moving away from that, it's time to get back down to the business of unfricking toxic relationships with back-stabbing countries like Canada, UK and other euro loonies.

While I'm a hardcore Trump supporter, I don't like this flame war with Canada. He could have done the economic policies and border issues without all of the smack talk.

Trump should have gone Jack Webb with a "Just the Facts" approach and lay out why certain tariffs are going to be imposed and listed the unfair practices Canada has been doing.

He's a politician. It's his job to get us better outcomes without letting the relationship become sour. He is failing to do that. It has nothing to do with liking or disliking Trump and everything to do with acknowledging what is a failure and what is a success. This outcome is not anywhere near optimal.
