I think it's necessary to define "rout" in this situation. It certainly won't be a shutout. Will Trump receive a bigger piece of the pie than in 2016....it seems to be looking that way. Would that play a consequential role in the election....most people think so. So if "rout" in this instance means "overwhelming defeat" as is provided in a dictionary, I'm not sure this scenario would be a real clear example of a rout.
