If Vitter would have said he wasn't for tort reform, there would be no question he would have won.

Huh?

You think a pro-business republican running against a trial lawyer would have stopped trial lawyers from mobilizing if only he didn't talk about the issue?

Because Vitter liked to get his dinkie wet, ergo he would have been a terrible governor.

What gives?

It was a perfect storm of a few factors.

Vitter ran a terrible campaign and underestimated a lot his 3 rivals.

Jindal backlash.

Angelle and Dardene screwing Vitter over and sitting on the sidelines or endorsing JBE and that depressed GOP turnout to damaging levels and got enough republicans to vote for JBE.

Is Edwards that good at fooling everybody?

He was a virtual unknown and he pretended to be a "Conservative democrat" just because he hates abortion and loves guns when that really doesn't mean shite towards policies that resemble actual small government.

JBE is a classic tax and spend liberal democrat who's in bed with ambulance chasers.

republicans shouldn't vote for Jeff Landry. that dude is an idiot.

Believe what you want.

He will be the next Governor and will hand JBE his arse on a silver platter in 2019 and JBE will be nothing more than a brief interruption in GOP domination of this state.

No I acknowledged his quirkiness and making enemies played a part in it. I think a more charismatic person would have weathered the hooker storm much better than he did.

But one thing I recall now that ended up being bigger than most people thought is how he was basically prevented from really responding to the issue because he didn't want to incriminate himself. Sounds insignificant at first but throughout and esp the debates he was very limited on what he could say about it.

Yeah, there were lots of little things like that.

Remember the campaign spy who ran from the sheriff? That kind of little stuff adds up too.

Dardenne and Angelle (predictably) wore out the hooker angle to try and gain traction even though they were losing the entire time, and after the jungle primary acted solely to promote their own best interests, not out of some repudiation of harshness.

This.

Vitter may have been rough as shite but he kept the attacks confined to policy topics and their business and political resumes, not character assassination and dragging his name through the mud. They went the other way and Vitter was hard pressed to combat that effectively because it was all they had.

Dardenne and Angelle are two despicable pieces of shite that screwed over conservatives in this state for their own self interest and personal gain and they damn well knew JBE was a tax and spend liberal but still let him get elected anyway.

You guys need to follow the Texas model. Last time we elected a statewide Dem to ANY office was 1994 and look at where our state is now, we have added 10 million people in that timespan. We would be the 10th wealthiest country by GDP if we were a country and we are growing all the time. Oil is still huge in Texas but we still keep on growing when it is down. Unemployment in Texas has consistently been at least a point less than the rest of the country or more for a long, long time. We run a government that size and the Leg only meets for 120 days every 2 years and we don't pay our Legislators crap.

Root out the corruption, keep the government small and be pro business and watch it grow.

He will face stiff opposition in 2019, likely from the state's attorney general, and former Tea Party Congressman, Jeff Landry.

And Jeff is going to frick ambulance chasers, leeching state employees and a-hole cops who love asset forfeiture even harder than Vitter would have done.

I can't fricking wait.

Angelle was popular in Cajun Country because he was one of them and Cajuns are very protective of their own.

Then why is he struggling like shite to beat a political novice like Clay Higgins with all of the Jindal machine's political muscle behind him?

If he indeed loses to Higgins next month, it will be because that those same cajuns realized that he's a goddamn snake who only cares about himself and nothing else and they realized what a mistake they made with him last year.

Doesn't matter if Vitter never said anything about it, Gumbopac was still going to happen.

Enjoy your 3 years at the trough though. Jeff Landry is gonna frick up ambulance chasers starting in 2020 and start cleaning up the judicial hellhole in this state.

You and your ilk have made this state one of the worst legal climates in the country and made it nearly impossible to attract real business and prime industries.

If Texas can pull of tort reform and drive out the ambulance chasers like you, we can do it here as well.

Yeah so bizarre. And the funny thing is campaigns do that stuff all the time, but in that context it really stood out as some surreptitious act that added to the overall awkwardness of his campaign.

Nothing ever came of that. They ended up dropping the charges after the election but Normand being the RINO piece of shite he is played the frick out of it to damage Vitter as much as he could to help JBE.

I will never understand why Jefferson parish voters tolerate him if they call themselves conservatives.

Yeah. Businesses are just fleeing left and right.

The report, titled “Catalyzing Growth: Economic Innovation and Expanding Entrepreneurship, says the Baton Rouge metro area tied for first with Memphis among peer cities—including Birmingham, Little Rock, Louisville, and Columbia—for business growth during the five-year period.

If you don't practice what you preach, how can you be trusted? Vitter didn't deserve our votes, and Louisiana deserves a better breed of conservative.
