Consider Chris Paul supposed comments "I don't want a white coach" or something to those affects. Did the NBA investigate or was he publically punished by the NBA in any way?

I just read up on this after seeing your post. He said something to the effect of "wanting a black coach". That's still a pretty silly thing to say, but there is a distinction there. Any idea in what context it was said. We have 30 minutes of Sterlings commentary (which only seems to get worse as it drags on). Nothing more on this soundbite?

Honestly I have no clue. But do you think it should have been investigated and, if true, punished? I honestly don't think so. I think we all have various prejudices and in any moment we can make thoughtless remarks that will show it in a light that we wouldn't actually act on.

If yes, are you still racist if you just hate lazy people of all colors equally ?

This isn't about "hate". The definition of racism is the belief that a particular race is inherently inferior.

If that is the case, then is it possible to love all races while also thinking a particular race is inferior.

For example... I love my dog. But I know my dog is inferior to humans.

All races are equal only in the sense that all people are equal.

Will anyone argue that all people are equal in the sense that they all have the same strength, intelligence, moral conduct, agility, longevity, susceptibility to disease, addiction, etc.

And people can no more be identical than can families, tribes, groups, nations races, etc.

One has to suspend rational thinking not to grasp their are differences between groups, even if it hurts someones feelings.

How can diversity be such a "value" if all groups are identical?

I'm so sick of all this "racist" bull shite. If a word or set of words strung together in a sentence is capable of causing you physical discomfort, maybe you just aren't cut out for real life.
lol.. I'm not the one who is "sick of all this racist bull shite". You sound like you're projecting.

Could a person really like black people and have no problem with them at all and still be racist if he believes they are inferior to white people?

Yes. I don't think it is common, but I'm sure some reasonably intelligent people convince themselves, in an academic sense, that some race is inferior to another race, but can maintain respect for the supposedly inferior race.

As someone else notes, dogs are generally thought to be inferior to humans, and I nonetheless love them and often put them on a pedestal above humans in many ways. Probably not the best comparison, but it's all I've got.

In the whole realm of human relations there are lots of characteristics that run contrary to taste but do not involve hate.

For example, in all my years as a single male there were 3 kinds of women that I would never consider going on a date with:
fat
smokers
tattoos

But I don't hate them. I simply find them very unattractive. I don't hate any race or ethnicity.

Are there people who I do actually hate? Yes.

Lesbians (because all the workplace problems I had to deal with were instigated by lesbians).
People who drive slow in the left lane.
Foursomes that won't let me play through.
